MAJOR UPDATE: Two Susquehanna trading firms have also been named as defendants in Utah’s civil enforcement action against Kalshi. This marks the first state AG civil enforcement action targeting prediction-market market makers.
BREAKING: Utah sues Kalshi for a “brazen pattern of unlawful conduct,” seeks injunctive relief to block in-state wagers and an order to recover “the millions it’s made through fees from wagers Utahns placed and that residents have lost through wagers.” sltrib.com/news/2026/10/20/u…

The Rays have consistently been one of the most fun baseball teams to watch all year.
A team with great fundamentals, unafraid to play the game differently than most of MLB. A team that played bigger than the sum of its parts.
The World Series is gonna be great.
Polymarket is taking bets on whether the seven Cornell students accused of raping a student will receive a felony sex crime charge.
Among the athletes endorsing Polymarket:
LeBron James, Derek Jeter, Eli Manning, Sue Bird, Reggie Bush and Richard Sherman.
Polymarket and its athlete endorsers are under fire for a market on whether any of the seven male defendants accused of raping a Cornell student will get a felony sex crime charge.
There was $451K in volume, with traders placing a 28% chance on the market resolving to “yes."
This is a black stain on the Eagles organization that Jalen Hurts was not only allowed to play, but boarded an international flight to London to play a football game.

A step from the NBA to curb players fixing games because of sports betting
The NBA and prominent sportsbooks have agreed to ban multiple types of bets, per me and @DavidPurdum, such as:
- Parlay bets involving the under on the same player's statistics
- "First of" market; examples: winner of opening tip, an individual's specific shot, rebound, assist, steal
- Under bets on players expected to play less than 12 minutes a game
For decades, running quarterbacks were treated as a gimmick, something that worked in college and would get figured out in the pros.
Now the NFL is filled with running quarterbacks.

Important interview with a former ESPN colleague:
“My brother died thirteen years ago on the sidewalk in downtown Las Vegas. It’s a stark reality, but it illustrates the tragic arc of being brought there as kids so our dad could gamble at sportsbooks, to then surviving on the streets there as a homeless person and dying at 36”
After a decorated 24-year run at ESPN, Nicole Noren resigned in protest.
She couldn’t go along with the network’s all-out embrace of gambling.
For the first time publicly, in @CJR, Noren shares the deeply personal reasons behind her decision.

One of the best ways drama is built into baseball is that the manager has to walk out into the middle of the field, and the pitcher has to walk-of-shame back to the dugout with all of the fans yelling at them.
No other sport has a more embarrassing way to get substituted.

This is such an impressive, legitimately rare swing.
Just the 3rd left-on-left opposite field HR on an inner third fastball in all of MLB this season.
The other two were Ohtani.
NEW VIDEO: Kylian Mbappé spent nearly 20 years with Nike, then left for equity at a brand that had never made a soccer cleat.
He’s one example of a bigger shift. The best athletes, designers and kids no longer treat Nike as the top of the mountain.
