I've done my fair share of criticizing @MedicareGov for moving too slowly and not thinking outside the box. But today I want to reflect on the decision by CMS to make a big push for #innovation and equitable patient access by creating a HCPCS code for a virtual reality (VR) cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) device AND importantly deeming it as durable medical equipment (DME). This decision has set a precedent for software-in-a-medical-device (SiMD) to get Medicare coverage, which opens the door for millions of vulnerable Americans to get access to treatment for a variety of chronic issues, including pain cms.gov/files/document/2022-…
