@steven_sipple @Coach_BillBusch @937JakeSorensen This explains the clock protocol snafu. The NCAA had never had the protocol in writing. The replay officials probably never even saw the clock discrepancy.

I can tell from the replies that this memo ☝️ was confusing. Here's what you need to know. The replay angle Big Ten officials used (that the conference shared) didn't have the game (stadium) clock embedded. They matched it up side by side. The NCAA secretary-rules editor is saying: Any decision to put time back on the clock must be based on video from the broadcaster that either has the game clock embedded or a clock graphic on the screen. Problem is they apparently never wrote that down anywhere. Now they have. Hope that helps. (Probably won't.)

@steven_sipple @Coach_BillBusch @937JakeSorensen No. Pererira didn’t have it right. This protocol was never in writing before yesterday.

@ralulla @Austin2Jacobsen My guess is that the NBC clock switches from 1 to zero at 0.999 and the official clock doesn’t switch to zero until 0.000. Seems like a failure in the system.

It wouldn’t have to show the milliseconds for that to be the case, and it would actually make more sense to wait to switch the full second if it’s not going to show the milliseconds.

@ralulla @Austin2Jacobsen Long term health of the sport? It’s literally a one year situation. It will never happen again.

It’s in the 5-for-5 rule. If you declare early, you forfeit your eligibility.

There are no long term ramifications if congress passes the bill. If they don’t, then this will also have no long term ramifications, because everything will still be up to the courts. This entire thing is just about stopping a specific set of players from playing this year.
11
Sorry @Coach_BillBusch but your take on the Big Ten rule today completely contradicts your take from yesterday. Those kids that signed free agent deals never had the option to use their 5th year before they signed. @steven_sipple @937JakeSorensen

If this is true, then I’m a moron and I retract my statement. If they get that much better being in an nfl training camp vs a college program offseason, then there is no way they should be allowed to play. xitter.cf/treywallace/status/209…
Matt Rhule sounds alarm on NFL returnees, $45 million rosters and college football’s payroll problem. “I think if an NFL player came back, it would be twice, if not three times better than they were." NIL? “We gotta get rid of that, it's just payroll” foxnews.com/outkick-sports/m…

@JohnBishop71 How many kids would have come back for their 5th year instead of going into the draft or signing a free agent deal?

This is a one year issue.

@ralulla I'm sure there is part of you that is nervous about losing DB as your co-host, but you really do kick ass as a host, and you'll continue to kick ass going forward. Just keep saying interesting things.

Honestly, was your previous Raiola narrative a schtick? I had been absolutely turned off by it, and today it seemed like you flipped the switch to sane.

@ralulla hey since I doubt I will get another response from you re: Dylan, are defensive coaches part of the coaching staff? Is it possible that Dylan is impressed with the defensive coaching that he goes up against @ Oregon vs the defensive coaches that got fired @ Nebraska?

Maybe the defensive players @ Oregon look like they have a plan. Maybe that is helping him develop because he is going up against a high end defense in practice.

@ralulla I think you guys are way off on the Sorsby NFL thing. Wouldn’t be shocked if it’s a 3rd round pick. The Steelers would be crazy to not bid at least a 5th.

@damonbenning @ralulla By the Rams getting their possible QB of the future with this year’s 1st rd pick, it turns their next few years of 1st rd picks into trade assets for proven players during the season if a need arises. I doubt the Rams will have a 1st rd pick for a bit.

Rams and Browns started talking about the Myles Garrett trade since draft time. One of the reasons they selected Ty Simpson in first round was because they knew they’d be without AT LEAST next years one. Rams were hoping to make it all draft capital and fought to not include Verse in deal to the end but he was a necessary Browns. @NFLonFOX

🚨🚨🚨 Bombshell: The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, per @rapsheet, @TomPelissero and me. In exchange for Garrett, the Rams are expected to send Pro-Bowl edge Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and other draft-pick compensation still being negotiated to the Browns.

@damonbenning This was my reasoning behind wanting to keep Coach Hoiberg. Coach Rhule will never have the benefit of this.

@steven_sipple @937JakeSorensen @Coach_BillBusch If this team won the Big Ten & lost in the 1st round, the reunion in 20 years would have a big but mentioned. The reunion for the first tourney win wouldn’t have a big but mentioned if they didn’t win the Big Ten.

The Packers had a great succession plan with Love…and wasted Aaron Rodgers MVP years. Makes zero sense. Made it to one Super Bowl with him. That’s still wild.
