It’s very hard not to turn my back on politics all together. I could concentrate on cats, grandchildren, ancient coins, modern classical music, coffee, etc and wait for Nonce Bonnets to crash through my door, my bank to be frozen, or my house to be destroyed by a quadricopter.
Do communists stand in elections?

Japan's flag wins on pure design: simple enough for a child to draw, two colors, meaningful, distinctive. All others removed.

In a dramatic reversal, Brazil's 80-year-old president, Luiz Inácio 'Lula' da Silva, has secured a fourth term in office, defeating Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
Flávio had finished first in the opening round of the election three weeks ago, and his political camp had performed strongly in congressional and gubernatorial elections. Lula's victory, with almost 52 per cent of the vote and a substantial margin of nearly 4.4 million votes, was decisive.
But the election was marred by the badly managed extension of voting hours.

So let me get this right. The Bell Review says that attitudes in Britain to Jewish people have *not changed* but there is increasing hostility to Israel.
And that translates to 'antisemitism is increasing'?
Replying to @Abhishek060722
No, that is not accurate. Official TSE results with all votes counted show Lula at 51.79% (64.3 million) and Flávio Bolsonaro at 48.21% (59.8 million). Voting was extended to 7 PM by Supreme Court order after transport complaints from both campaigns.

Lula didn’t just beat Bolsonaro:
He beat Trump, Netanyahu/Israel, Meta interference, algorithms, the right-wing wave taking Latin America, and the elite billionaire class...
If Brasil just did it, America can too.

The world cannot ignore what is happening in Sudan.
One year on from the mass atrocities in El Fasher, the UK is sanctioning those linked to these and other atrocities, and strengthening support for survivors and communities at risk of famine.

I've locked up more child abusers than you have followers. I was a police officer for five years longer than you've been on Twitter.
Other than that, great tweet.

Reject the Board of Deputies
The Board of Deputies' declaration that The Green Party of England & Wales is a "racist" party would be laughable if it wasn't so disgusting.
J.-P. Janson De Couët retweeted
Or it is this. The Board of Deputies, however flawed in certain ways through its delegate system, is representative through its member institutions, reoresenting the vast majority of Jews who actively take part in any and every area of Jewish life in Britain.
Who was the sane 1?
The Green Party voted to declare Zionism racist.
Today, the Board of Deputies voted 118–1 to declare the Green Party racist.
You can criticise Israel's government without questioning the legitimacy of Jewish self-determination.
Perhaps it's time politicians started listening to British Jews rather than telling us what we're allowed to believe.

Congratulations to President Lula on a stunning, historic re-election.
A political comeback that will be remembered for generations to come.
This is a victory for the people, for the planet and for peace.

One of the highlights of my time in Jordan was visiting UNWRA archives and examining the index cards and other records of the 750,000 Palestinians kicked off their land at the Nakba in 1948. They used to be kept in Gaza and were airlifted out at the beginning of the genocide- Israel has destroyed all the archives that remained. They form the best evidence for some form of reparations in the future and are now being scanned and digitalised

The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), through its Renaissance Strategic Center (RSC), organised, under the theme “Gaza and the Turning of History: The Middle East Before and After,” a visit to the UNRWA Photo and Film Archives with renowned British historian and author William Dalrymple, alongside a high-level working lunch bringing together diplomats, academics, policymakers, and regional experts to reflect on Gaza and Palestine within the broader historical and political transformations shaping the Middle East.
During the visit to the UNRWA Archives, facilitated in cooperation with UNRWA, Dalrymple explored historical records documenting Palestinian displacement, refugee experiences, and collective memory since 1948. Recognized by UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme, the archives underscore the importance of preserving Palestinian history, identity, and the experiences of generations of refugees.

Green councillors face Labour deadline to disown Zionism policy
Labour is set to decide whether to end power-sharing with Green councillors after demanding they disown their party's policy that Zionism is a form of racism.
The BBC has been told Green groups have been given until Sunday to respond to the demand, after which Labour's ruling National Executive Committee (NEC) will decide whether the party will continue with local deals to share power.
