50 years in the ag industry.
Covering topics and issues across the industry for multiple publications, DTN Crops Technology Editor @PamSmithDTN sits down for one last conversation before turning a new leaf.
In the latest episode of Field Posts hosted by Sarah Mock, Pam shares experiences that have shaped her decades-long career and reflects on the enduring bonds she's formed along the way.
For 14 years, Pam brought both talent and humanity to our newsroom. She believed that accuracy mattered, that authentic stories connected with readers, and that the best journalism could be both useful and deeply personal.
Pam's work often carried a rare quality: heart. She not only helped farmers make better decisions, but also helped them feel seen and understood. Her creativity, dependability and friendship have left a lasting mark on our team. We are grateful for her time with us and celebrate an extraordinary 50-year career in agricultural journalism.

In 24 hours, people across the internet have raised over $100K to help my 83-year-old father retire from Lowe’s and not risk losing his home while he takes care of my stepmom.
He’s a veteran who has battled several cancers and is not giving up.
He prayed for this miracle.
It’s amazing to see what community can do to help someone who truly needs it.
And for that person — an 83-year-old veteran working almost full time to save his home — to be my colleague’s @DTNeeley’s father, is even sweeter.
Sharing this story with pride today!
