The Ball Screen Ladder is a teaching progression built on a single rule: one new decision per rung. It runs from 2v1 to 5v5, and each rung carries four things, which are the decision it exists to train, a constraint that makes that decision appear without a coach calling for it, the cue a player reads to make it, and a countable standard the group meets before climbing. The defence gets its own job and its own standard at every rung, because a rep in which half the players have no objective is not an honest test of anything. The order alternates on purpose. Overloads guarantee the decision appears; even sides make
