This & the common php reaction of “shut it down for a while” has me so weirded out. Like, “exposed, just break your business” is so ass backwards. No safe rotation, no fallbacks, no quick fix. If you can just, go offline without consequence, you’re a not serious company.

Such garbage on the internet. I find inaccurate description of my business. I email company, as described in their "editorial process" I get back automated sales pitch for their info-product stuff. I say "no thanks, just appreciate you looking into the article." them:

If you think SaaS is dead because you can vibe code a version in a weekend, you're missing the other side of the equation. AI is not an equalizer, it's a multiplier. You can catch up to where a SaaS was but staying level means building it full-time. Congrats, you now run a SaaS.

Yesterday I noticed a new backlink from YASSS (yet another screen shot startup) So I go look. Brand new launched yesterday. "blog" has like 1200 posts. All yesterday. Today, another post about us. Look at "blog" again today - over 8600. This is slop on a new level.

When in doubt, just use C# and ASP.NET Core. It's blazing fast. .NET 11 RC2 is even faster. For me, it's the best overall major web framework - auth, config, logging, perf, modular middleware, DI, cross-plat, etc. But I didn't expect this:
Campfire rewrite journey continues. I let the clankers run for a day, go through all the PRs that were submitted, verify the work, merge what was ready, and then ask it to bring all architectural improvements to each implementation. Good old C is now in the lead!

I wish I could agree with this but after 15+ years working with companies on their infra and app design patterns, and now daily talking to companies about database strategy… it’s the same shit it always was.. Few people spend time on performance. Most aren’t sure where to start.
performance engineering used to be a way to filter out interesting people (grokking flamegraphs/encyclopedic knowledge of underlying systems) now it's mostly commodified :/ anyone with enough tokens can improve speed given some benchmark
