Our youngest vomited in our bed at 3:30am. My wife and I calmly got up. I cleaned our child while my wife changed the bedding. Our child vomited again but we caught it in a mixing bowl.
We laughed a little together and remarked how there is no one else in the world with whom we’d rather clean up puke at 3:30am. An incredible team.

At age 37, Angelina Jolie got both of her healthy normal breast tissue removed. Kept the nipples. Filled the space with silicone implants. Not for vanity. It was pure math.
Later she removed her ovaries and slashed her cancer risk by 96%. She did this because she had bad genes.
She carries a BRCA1 mutation. Women with it face up to an 87% chance of breast cancer in their lifetime. Her mother died of ovarian cancer at fifty-six. Her aunt died of breast cancer. The family history was loud.
Her choice sparked the "Angelina Jolie effect". After she shared her story in 2013, many more women asked for BRCA testing and learned their own risks.
Not every woman needs testing. Those with a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer, especially at young ages, should talk to a doctor. Women of Ashkenazi Jewish background also have higher odds of carrying BRCA1.
