Please look carefully at this video, which shows what was happening in the moments before a shooting that killed 18-year-old Jordan Lecky. Parents, especially of teens in northeast Orange County or Seminole County, please watch this carefully with your teenagers to see if they can identify anyone in the video. An 18-year-old is dead, and dozens of people were right there when it happened. Someone saw something. We need people to come forward to help us find the person who pulled the trigger. Just after 11 p.m. on October 17, deputies responded to the Lakeside Villas apartments at 7950 Shoals Dr. for a noise complaint about a group of nearly 100 people, mostly in their late teens, who had congregated near the pool area behind the leasing office. As the first responding deputy was approaching, he activated his lights and sirens to disperse the crowd. Several partygoers began to scatter in response – and just as that happened, the responding deputy heard a single gunshot coming from behind the leasing office. That deputy discovered a young man, later identified as Jordan Lecky, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died on October 19. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, and our detectives want desperately to solve this case. Although dozens of people were there when the gunshot rang out, only two witnesses stayed behind to meet with deputies. They told detectives a fight broke out and then a single gunshot went off, striking Jordan. While reviewing available video of the fight, it became clear to detectives that at least a dozen bystanders were taking video of the fight with their phones. We know someone saw something that could help detectives solve this case, and we need them to come forward. Anyone with information – no matter how insignificant it may seem – please contact the OCSO non-emergency line at 407-836-4357 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. If you have any video from the fight, or the moments leading up to or after the gunshot, our detectives would like to review it. You can upload video directly through this link: orangecountysheriffsofficefl…

On June 28, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Orlando Police officers responded to the area of Church Street and Orange Avenue following reports of gunfire. An extensive investigation determined that two groups became involved in an altercation that escalated into a physical fight. During the incident, a female involved in the altercation was punched in the face by an individual from the opposing group. Her brother, who was present at the scene, used a firearm to strike the other individual. During the confrontation, the firearm discharged, striking his sister in the foot. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On July 1, 2026, OPD’s Fugitive Unit arrested Devan Cameron Upshaw in connection with the incident. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (2 counts), Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and Culpable Negligence. Upshaw’s actions created a significant disturbance in downtown Orlando and endangered the safety of those in the area. The Orlando Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and maintaining order in our downtown district. Acts of violence that threaten public safety will not be tolerated, and OPD will continue to hold offenders accountable.

All personnel are accounted for and safe. It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it. Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.

#Breaking Hearing ends w/ Anna Kepner’s stepbrother remaining out of custody for now. The Federal judge wants to speak with the U.S. Marshals Service about the logistics of detaining the teen in Central Florida, closer to family, rather than South Florida. wesh.com/article/stepbrother…
Happening now: Anna Kepner’s stepbrother is in a Miami Federal courtroom as DOJ argues his pretrial release should be revoked. He was 16 at time of cruise ship murder in last Nov. In April he was indicted as an adult for murder and sexual abuse charges. AP Photo/Rebecca Blackwell

A Volusia Sheriff's Office deputy investigating a battery call in Deltona was shot in the leg and shoulder this evening at 2684 Candler Drive. He is conscious, alert and in good enough spirits to crack jokes with the medical staff treating his injuries. This is a preliminary post - we will have more information to share later this evening. Traffic on Howland and Providence is being rerouted in the area, so please avoid if possible. Thankful our deputy is alive today and hopefully well on his way to a fast recovery.
