Huge congratulations to the entire team led by @neelm23 on his paper "De novo chromatin remodelling variants in sporadic Chiari 1 malformation" out today in @Brain1878. A heroic effort highlighting the clinical utility of WES in #neurosurgery academic.oup.com/brain/advan…

Integrating WES of 1,585 proband-parent trios, transcriptomics analyses, and structural modeling, we identify several new Chiari 1 risk genes converging on ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling programs. Genetically-encoded cerebellar disproportion is a key disease mechanism!

Overwhelmed with gratitude for the four young men from @kahlelab who matched today in neurosurgery - @tdespenza (@Dukeneurosurg ), Ben Reeves (@BarrowNeuro ), @EmreKiziltug (@umichneuro), and @kedousmekbib (@MayoClinicNeuro). I couldn’t be more proud+thankful for these soldiers!

Excellent talk by Dr @KahleKristopher of @MGHNeurosurg on the utility of multi-omics in clustering and managing neurosurgical diseases like congenital hydrocephalus. Omics may be our generation’s surgical microscope @kahlelab

Multi-omic analyses reveal de novo variants causing genetic neurodevelopmental conditions in up to 16% of cases of patients with cerebral arachnoid cysts, suggesting that surgery may not improve non-mass effect related symptoms @kahlelab @AdamKundishora nature.com/articles/s41591-0…
