Idk who needs to hear this but you are not gonna go around calling me non indigenous or non buddhist over a mediocre Nickelodeon cartoon and it's dumbass characters. This has happened twice in the last week and there is absolutely no patience in me for that

I think Avatar failed as a franchise because it birthed a fandom morally compromised enough to power scale genocides. There are individuals out here going— "Aang's pain literally SOLOS everybody else's. Katara and Sokka's cultural loss has nothing on my blorbo's."

The craziest thing is when the fandom hates on HER instead of the grown-ass man who got with her while she was an air acolyte under his tutelage

it's because on social media victimhood is currency. if you can convince people you are The Ultimate Victim in all scenarios then nobody can question your authority and anybody who dares is automatically some -ist or -phobic that shouldn't be listened to
Yall have turned intersectionality into oppression powerscaling and idk why

No future exploration of Zuko can be done w/o putting him in a broader political context-reckoning with his family's role in genocide, post war reparations and the overall existence of monarchy, but neither Paramount nor Bryan and Mike have the capacity to tackle all that

Given the ultra-right wing leaning of most of Paramount's owners, they would not want a story advocating for reparations pr taking accountability for "sins of past" cuz it goes directly against conservative agenda. The most they'd be willing to do w Zuko is focus on family drama

"congress ke time pe ab tak thand aa jati thi" is perfectly valid bjp criticism since illegally clearing off thousands of acres of dense forest for mining and data centers and hiding that number by classifying sugarcane plantations as dense forest contributes to global warming

I’m of the belief aang should’ve been Tibetan, Nepalese, bhutanese or north East Indian, not East Asian,
We could’ve had Darren as Aang in the movie instead of Eric Nam

I agree that both Aang and Katara’s trauma should be respected. But a lot of you don’t even allow rightful criticism of their dynamic or the misogynistic undertones of the way Katara is sidelined or framed as a the supportive partner.

Her getting spiritually violated by her uncle and atla fans blaming her for it to the point where the creators had to come out and defend her. Unfortunately does reflect irl

I hate the way you guys talk about Katara's trauma actually. "Wasn't much of a burden, anyways" really? The girl who saw her mom's burnt corpse as a child? Who grew up as a last if her mind? All this just because her trauma 'scales' less than Aang? Like this is disgusting
"Does anyone care she was also the only surviving water bender from the south?" Yeah, "WAS" Guess what? She ISN'T anymore. That burden is GONE (wasn't even much of a burden to begin with). The SWT is being rebuilt and thriving. Aang's home is still a tomb 13 years after the war
