So... I wanted to find out the best instant noodles. I asked AI for the most popular types of instant noodles and I went to H-Mart and bought like 15 different kinds.
A week of research and this is my result:
First, square packet noodles are better than cup noodles. The cups are more expensive and convenient but noodles that cook this way are not as good. Always buy the square pack when available.
The worst instant noodles are the wildly popular Buldak Spicy Chicken Carbonara. These are disgusting. Like if flaming hot cheeto's were a noodle soup, but with more chemical flavor.
The best noodles are Momofuko soy and scallion. The noodles are nice and there's less of a chemical flavor. You can dress these up with a tablespoon of Japanese mayonaise, an egg, and chili crunch.
The best instant noodle soup is YukGaeJang by Nongshim. Nongshim is probably the world's most popular noodles. They're best known for Ramen, but the spicy beef Korean soup is actually the best instant noodle soup.
I hope you enjoy the fruits of my research. 🙏

#OTD in 1871, Louis Sockalexis was born on a Penobscot reservation near Old Town, ME. Though there are conflicting reports, he is widely thought of as the first person with Native American ancestry to play in the National League. Here’s my painting of him with Holy Cross in 1895.

Twitter, do you know what's awesome about today besides the World Series?
The one MLB city and stadium I had somehow never been to was Milwaukee. I'm now 30-for-30! I had a brat.
Extraordinary.

RIP Tom Skerritt. A great actor who had an uncanny ability to show up in the most iconic movies, even if it was with the briefest part. I did a wide-ranging talk with him a few years ago that's still one of my favorite interviews [Gift link]: vulture.com/2021/10/tom-sker…
