The South is not a "lost cause". It's underorganized, underfunded, and relentlessly suppressed & gerrymandered. And despite it all, Black Southern voters have shown up anyway to be the conscience of this country throughout our history. I hope people realize that.
That final #DunePartThree trailer is calling to me like the goblin mask, but I'm going to avoid it at all costs! They've shown too much already in the teaser and trailer #1

“Black people are often photo-ready. Photo-eager,” Hanif Abdurraqib writes. “We’ve already got fly, we already believe ourselves to be fly: why shouldn’t someone want to take our photo?” In the work of the photographer Andre D. Wagner, the tender intimacy of Black life takes center stage. Some of Wagner’s images show moments of profound, quiet interpersonal intimacy. Others display raucous joy. “We don’t have to be told that we are fly, but it doesn’t hurt to get some confirmation, by way of a camera pointing in our direction,” Abdurraqib continues. Cyrus began consistently documenting New York City in the nineties. His images of Harlem—its streets, its jazz clubs, its dark, soulful nights—evoke the place like nothing else. newyorker.com/culture/photo-…

Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother is more original, more compelling, and more profound than anything Marvel would’ve let Bassam Tariq/Mahershala make together. I don’t want to downplay how much they played in their faces but this is such a beautiful movie and outcome.
