I’m pretty excited about this.

Lot of good second- or third- generation tech available to bring refusals, extreme speed drivers, and distracted drivers in line and prevent future tragedies in cases where jail/suspensions aren’t the right option in a particular case. I agree w/ @hooligan1458 that we shouldn’t tolerate these dangers on the roads.
COMMENTARY by @hooligan1458 -- We need to put the brakes on extreme speeding in R.I. bostonglobe.com/2026/09/17/m… via @BostonGlobe
This tracks my RI straw poll from the campaign trail. In environmental policymaking States have banded together to control emissions. Seems to me that this would be a good model for AI in the absence of federal action — and there’s probably a higher chance of AI destroying the internet (which may sound nice in theory but would hurt a lot of people) than meaningful federal action coming inside the next 6-12 months.
Coordinated state action would mean no state has to be a big outlier and face potential economic consequences, allow real expertise from across the country to be brought to bear on any solutions, and if enough states came together would probably have a national impact on the AI market.

A new poll finds 63% of Americans see at least a moderate risk that advanced AI will destroy humanity. That includes 20% who see a significant risk and 17% who say it’s almost certain to happen.
Americans recognize what’s at stake. Congress must act to address AI’s risks.
I’m open to this nomination

Fired up the account to see myself on RI MAGA X! That’s fun. As I sometimes said on the campaign trail when accused of what you all call “TDS” - MAGA’s brilliant propaganda term to gaslight those legitimately criticizing a would-be tyrant - Trump admin 1.0 did at least one good thing in hospital price transparency, and they’re back at that in Admin 2.0 - good to see!
So here I am, your “TDS” Dem praising a Trump policy. @BrianCNewberry my fellow Quaker, you willing to buck your Party and substantively criticize the Pres, or too afraid & prefer to take your shots at former AG candidates while they’re at Great Wolf Lodge with their kids? (Great spot for the kids at least, wish we had it here, kind of.)
Not a small thing for Bloomberg to say it. For those who remember ‘09…we came pretty close to a full system failure. Maybe a lot of democratic troubles that followed caused by a catastrophe we sort of averted. Would rather not court this!

NEW: Bloomberg's editorial board said the Trump White House is "courting a banking crisis."
They describe how Trump's regulators are “reducing supervision and encouraging the kind of leverage that can make failures, contagion and bailouts more likely."
Hope that folks search for a way to regulate AI at the state level. Feds are out to lunch - and making matters much worse - on this and so many other things.

Feels like a good time to remind people that our President, at the behest of his billionaire donors, instituted a voluntary and completely secret process for approving AI models.
It’s profit for the .01% first, safety and economic prosperity for the American people last.
Agreed, and also appreciate how @RepGabeAmo puts Trump admin’s almost inconceivable cruelty in human terms as he fights for us.
Message to our amazing supporters:
Thank you.
It was the privilege of my professional life to fight alongside you in this race for Attorney General. Together, we built a strong campaign. I came up short. But I cannot thank you enough for your support and for believing in me.
It would have been my great privilege to keep building the Office of Attorney General into an all-too-rare place of integrity and transparency serving the public interest in our state. A place where we could effectively fight for access to healthcare and consumer protection, and against federal overreach, even as we justly applied our laws to keep Rhode Islanders safe from those who would do them harm.
Today I have very conflicted feelings. On the one hand, I am at ease. I feel that you all and I did all we could to win. We left it all on the field! My life, and my family's life, will be much less complicated as a result of this loss.
On the other hand, I feel a sense of profound concern for my state. Rhode Islanders face enormous challenges, to say the least.
As you know, I have spent the better part of my career in public service at the Attorney General's office. I care deeply about the work and the mission of the Office. I was moved to run for this position out of deep concern for addressing an unprecedented series of crises in Rhode Island. For our next Attorney General, I believe Rhode Islanders must demand transparency and seek to earnestly understand when staffing or policy decisions are driven by political self-interest or insiders rather than substance, the common good, and a commitment to excellent legal work.
I have had so much fun with you on the campaign trail. And I look forward to staying in touch with you — and continuing to deepen our friendships — in the years ahead! Not for political reasons, just because you're great people.
For now, I will be taking some time with Rachel and the boys. I've spoken on the campaign trail about how I lost my Dad when I was young, and so I really look forward to getting to be the father I would like to be for Elijah and Daniel. They nearly lost me to politics! I certainly won't let that happen again!
Soon we're heading on vacation(s). We're not sure where we're going to go yet, so feel free to respond if you have any suggestions. I truly look forward to being in touch soon.
My deepest gratitude to you in the meantime.
Most sincerely,
Keith
