Spontaneous coronary artery dissection associated with pregnancy appears more clinically severe and potentially less likely to result in a favorable recovery. Karol E. Watson, MD, PhD, FACC (@kewatson), summarizes a recent study: jwat.ch/3Rmjtyk

It states, "Reproductive history—particularly preeclampsia and assisted reproductive technology use—and older maternal age may help identify women at higher risk." Study by Karol E. And Karol’s commentary on CHAMPION-AF is spot on, blunt but incisive!
It is hard to see how anyone can look at the results and declare it is a win for Watchman FLX.

Excellent discussion!
Not sure if the distinction between DM with atherosclerosis and without atherosclerosis subset in VESALIUS-CV is as sharp as the investigators’ claims. Baseline CV or all-cause deaths and treatment benefit is indistinguishable among the 2 groups.

Our very own @kewatson co-authored @CircAHA editorial calling 2026 dyslipidemia guidelines "a more precise individualized & equitable" framework for ASCVD prevention. ABC members co-wrote the guidelines. Now they're leading the conversation. buff.ly/CaKrb9D
