Notes from leads offsite in New York:
- AI security and quantum are two big upcoming challenges, not just for Stacks but for the broader Bitcoin ecosystem. There is an opportunity to show leadership here.
- Growth of BTC deployed in bonds remains the focus. The current bottleneck is institutional custodian integrations; custodians need to be live and tested before larger capital flows into bonds. We’ve made great progress on this lately.
- We’re organizing labs into nimble teams that are AI-pilled. Agility matters in this new AI world. 1-3 person teams with tons of agents will run most work streams. We’re building the “AI factory” that’ll automate and enhance our audits, testing, release cadence, and more.
The market has a lot of fear about AI finding bugs or breaking encryption, along with fears of an acceleration toward quantum computers.
We see these as opportunities to roll up our sleeves and take action. We can reach a state where code is formally verified, and frontier models run continuous tests. Stacks devs are already researching steps towards a post-quantum world.
We left the NYC offsite more energized than ever. The work we’re doing on Bitcoin capital markets and the safety of these systems matters more than ever. We embrace the new tools and a changing world. Forward!

The recent BTC staking launch also keeps BTC self-custodially on L1 which you can exit anytime, (no one holds your keys)
Along with that - Stacks is extremely closely aligned to BTC. It inherits 100% of its tx finality. To reverse a STX tx would be to reverse a BTC tx.

The team at @ALEXLabBTC are builders, they pushed boundaries of the technology and as such were able to solidify a platform on which the others built.

Most of them were outspoken about @ALEXLabBTC and how they would have done things differently: now that tables have turned nobody is doing anything.
Such things makes one wonder if this whole thing wasn't scripted.

Some news: I’m coming in as the new CEO of Stacks Labs.
- I co-founded Stacks in 2017; we’ve been live for 5+ years and have gone through various chapters of decentralization.
- I’m more bullish on $STX than ever before. After the successful launch of Bitcoin staking, it’s time to double down on the growth of Bitcoin capital markets.
- After ecosystem restructuring last year, Stacks Labs has emerged as the operational hub. Taking on a day-to-day operational role there lets me put rocket fuel on the institutional BD work I was already doing.
- Stacks is pushing the frontier of Bitcoin. The tech is stellar. More BTC capital flows and widespread marketing of Stacks are what’s needed now. That’ll be my focus.
- @alexlmiller has done a tremendous job over the last year as interim CEO, put us on solid operational foundations, and pushed the core staking product live. Huge kudos to Alex for all his contributions!
- Satoshi upgrades 1 delivered self-custodial staking. We’re working on other frontier Bitcoin challenges like 100x capacity, institutional-grade privacy, and post-quantum. I look forward to working with our fearless CTO, @AdrianoDiLuzio, and the rockstar team on this exciting roadmap.
