The you’re just jealous argument is tired and it won’t work to silence people. Y’all gotta hang that jersey in the rafters and retire it.

Statements like "I am working class before I am queer" is considered harmful bcs it’s fracturing solidarity. If a person is both working-class & queer, their hardships do not exist in two separate boxes. They don't experience classism on Mondays and homophobia on Tuesdays.

Quotes are missing the point. Everyone of a certain class, born post-internet, is a product of American cultural hegemony and the deterritorialisation in varying degrees. Maybe the conclusion of being undocumented Americans seem hyperbolic —

A year ago, I was bullied, made fun of and publicly shamed online and in Nigerian media for my trans identity. For a while, I retreated back into the closet, but even in that difficult season, I held on to my dream of creating a universe of Black trans and Black queer films and television shows that could hold us, even as the world continues to debate, condemn and make fun of our existence.
Coming back to myself and finding the courage to create again has been a journey, but I am proud that I chose to turn away from those rotten voices and make room for my own. I am immensely proud to have made a film unlike anything I have seen before.
One Last Day in the UK tells the story of a Black British trans woman and her final day of romance with a Black American man. It will be available on YouTube on 30 October.
