I want to know how much is squirrelled away in that kid on bank, solely owned by Scottish ministers…. Would be interesting to see all the transactions there 🤔

Build wind farms before the grid can carry their power. Pay to curtail them. Hand consumers the bill. Then call it “cheap energy”. What a spectacular advertisement for political incompetence.

Public question to @larabirdsnp and Kate Nevens: You were held for around eight hours by Israeli authorities and then turned away at the Allenby Bridge while trying to enter the West Bank as part of a Progressive International delegation. Your stated aim was solidarity with olive harvesters and events in Ramallah. Meanwhile, back in Scotland: Drug deaths hit 1,133 in 2025 an 11% rise, still the highest rate in Europe by a wide margin, with cocaine and nitazenes driving the toll. This is after more than a decade of SNP government. Homeless deaths rose 38% to 232 in 2025. The Scottish Government declared a housing emergency, yet the numbers keep climbing. Child poverty and food insecurity remain entrenched, with large numbers of Scottish families relying on food banks and cutting back on meals. You are elected to represent people in Scotland and at Westminster. Is flying out on a foreign solidarity trip, then complaining about being stopped, the best use of your time right now? These are the people some of you trust to run Scotland?

The absolute arrogance of SNP politicians playing international stateswoman while Scotland falls apart is staggering. You flew thousands of miles just to “bear witness” and ended up achieving nothing but being “prevented from crossing the border”. You are not a sovereign foreign minister; you are a devolved politician whose party presides over a £22.8bn deficit, record drug deaths, and a collapsing NHS. The Israeli government does not care about your “pressure”. Get on a flight home and do the actual job Scottish taxpayers pay you to do.

This really does show what an utter fucking Cretin Swinney is. Does he ever question his advisors ? Everything is aimed at the sub educated Nats and Greens who just believe this fucking idiot no matter what he says. A keynote speech about clean energy in one of the world's biggest polluting countries. It's capital being the most polluted on earth. And here's daft Nutella waffling B.S. Delivering a keynote address FFS. Stop kidding yerself on.

No wonder Swinney's hiding in India and Sturgeon in London. They are culpable and have some big questions to answer.

It must have been a different John Swinney who said in February 2025 that blocking Jackdaw was “the only sustainable judgment you can arrive at in considering these questions".
🧵 I hope today’s announcement on Jackdaw will provide some certainty for the North East after many years of difficulty thanks to UK Government policy. It must also kickstart a renewed drive to deliver our long-standing clean energy ambitions.

'Let’s take the three subjects Ms Gilruth mentioned in turn: firstly, “a Scotland in which women are silenced”. The deputy first minister provided no examples, but let me. Twice, I went to attempts by a group of women to screen a documentary about women’s rights, Adult Human Female. The first time, it couldn’t go ahead because of a large group of protesters and the second time, it went ahead but only thanks to heavy security. I spoke to both sides and the women trying to screen the film couldn’t have been less right-wing if they’d tried, and the protesters who were trying to silence them were absolutely of the Left, not the Right.' heraldscotland.com/politics/…

😳 @JohnSwinney telling the Easdale brothers to “watch their language” rather neatly illustrates the very attitude they're complaining about. He's the @ScotGovFM of Scotland, not the nation's headmaster. His job is to answer criticism, not to expel people who express it in terms he finds disagreeable. I've experienced this culture myself. Challenge a policy, question a funding decision or expose an uncomfortable truth, and suddenly the conversation becomes about your tone, your language or your attitude. Anything, it seems, except the substance of what you've actually said. It's a remarkably convenient way of avoiding difficult questions while making the person asking them the problem. Democracy is not simply the right to vote every few years. It also requires the freedom to challenge those in power without fearing that your livelihood, funding, reputation or opportunities will suffer as a consequence. And that is where my criticism of the SNP goes considerably further than its apparent dislike of dissent. My concern, informed by my own experience, is that criticism can carry identifiable institutional consequences, while compliance and political conformity can bring equally identifiable advantages. That is a far more serious allegation than a government being thin-skinned, and it deserves proper scrutiny. The Easdales have the resources and public profile to challenge the government openly. Many smaller organisations, particularly those dependent on public funding, do not enjoy that luxury. For them, the perceived price of speaking out can be enough to ensure silence. A government doesn't have to ban criticism to discourage it. It merely has to create an environment in which people believe there is a price to pay for speaking their minds. So perhaps, rather than lecturing his critics about their manners, the First Minister might reflect on why people feel compelled to use such strong language in the first place. Democracy isn't a classroom, Mr Swinney. The electorate aren't your pupils, and disagreement isn't a disciplinary offence.
Scotland’s First Minister has told a bus company boss to watch his language after he branded him a dictator over plans to bring the country’s bus network under public control. i.stv.tv/4zDMZjI
