Introducing Slingshots // FOUR: 14 projects across eight top institutions. Self-improving agent systems and harnesses, maximally-open models and training data, applications for research and decision-making – plus kernels and more. Say hello to the batch 🧵
Funny enough leaked certs and hacking-agents-at-home may be a boon for privacy
Replying to @En0tuK_
set up dns that redirects all yandex[.]net and yandex[.]ru to ur pc (i used dnsmasq), then you use the leaked certs (mastodon link in the replies to OP) to issue certificates for these domains, then you mitm the traffic and search for /get_sync_info, intercept it and enable adbd

BREAKING: We broke the wall for Integer Multiplication!
Conditional κ = 0.00302 (+80%)
For days we were stuck in incremental improvements, but today zxv changed the game.
zxv’s insight: stop throwing away work. Helper registers that finish holding a completed transform of their own input now count as output, instead of being undone.
He brought us to 0.0023(+37.5%), and immediately after 1337isnot1337 pushed that to 0.00302.
The game is afoot :)

1/ Our long national nightmare is over. The wall has been smashed. New community checkpoint for integer multiplication:
κ = 0.00268647 ≈ 2⁻⁸·⁵⁴⁰
T(n) = O(n(log n)⁰·⁹⁹⁷³¹³⁵³)
A 66% improvement since last announcement. A 2^173 fold improvement from the OAI result

We're reaching the point In the singularity where we unlock literal alchemy in the tech tree – at San Francisco, CA
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

OpenAI says the PHP security flaw (found with GPT-5.6 Sol) is the tip of the iceberg, and they have several more discoveries to announce.
OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites.
Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors.
Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact.
This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
OpenAI may claim a role in the coordinated response and patching process. But the initial discovery and exploit development, however, occurred several months earlier by an independent researcher.

We had to invent a new form of WAF to mitigate this latest set of vulnerabilities. Now enabled by default for all customers for free.
The new capability that we built to help defend php2shell is live.
The @Cloudflare WAF now has full transaction detection that evaluates the request and the origin response together, and response rules block a match before it reaches the requester.
Example from the post: unauthenticated hit on /admin that comes back 200 text/html. Block it. Auth failures and redirects can then pass through untouched.

If they’ve worked on the PHP vulnerability for over 2 months then why has there been such a piss poor disclosure and rollout strategy?
It’s basically been a “in 24 hours you’re all fucked” rollout strategy.

You've gotta patch your dependencies super fast because they're full of vulns (PHP, Node, eMudhra, etc), but not _too_ fast because they're full of backdoors (LiteLLM). Good luck!

The original post has since been edited to specify that this was about an unrelated vulnerability that the user had discovered, not the recently patched vulnerability.

As expected in 2026, AI did most of the work here.
This research began with a prompt targeting security flaws in PHP functions reachable from popular codebases.
One thing led to another, and we ended up uncovering an entire class of security vulnerabilities in PHP itself🤯

🚨 JFrog Security Research has identified a supply-chain attack involving malicious code in the LiteLLM 1.107.0 PyPI release. Avoid this version and investigate environments where it was installed or executed. More details will be shared soon in our blog post.
If you run PHP either disable it or follow the below
because PoCs are out there
and Deepseek can recreate it anyway for $0.05
Here is a full list of what you can do NOW for PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618 / CVE-2026-109619) as a temporary mitigation.
(generated and validated by LLM)
1️⃣ Do this first. In php.ini or the FPM pool, set:
session.upload_progress.enabled = 0
Reload PHP-FPM, then update PHP right after the release (21 Oct, 14:00 UTC).
2️⃣ Edge block until you patch. It blocks the PHPSESSID cookie and query (also lowercase and URL-encoded), and all multipart/form-data requests.
⚠️ File uploads stop working until you remove it.
☁️ Cloudflare (WAF custom rule, action Block):
(lower(url_decode(http.cookie)) contains "phpsessid") or (lower(url_decode(http.request.uri.query)) contains "phpsessid") or (any(lower(http.request.headers["content-type"][*])[*] contains "multipart/form-data"))
🟩 nginx (http {} context):
map "$http_cookie|$args|$content_type" $block_php2shell {
default 0;
"~*(?:p|%[57]0)(?:h|%[46]8)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:e|%[46]5)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:i|%[46]9)(?:d|%[46]4)" 1;
"~*multipart/form-data" 1;
}
In each server {} block:
if ($block_php2shell) { return 403; }
🔒 Caddy:
@php2shell expression `{header.Cookie}.matches("(?i)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:h|%[46]8)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:e|%[46]5)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:i|%[46]9)(?:d|%[46]4)") || {query}.matches("(?i)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:h|%[46]8)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:e|%[46]5)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:i|%[46]9)(?:d|%[46]4)") || {header.Content-Type}.matches("(?i)multipart/form-data")`
respond @php2shell 403
🚦 Traefik v3 (Coolify: Server > Proxy > Dynamic Configurations). Add this to the https router and also to a copy for the http entrypoint:
http:
routers:
block-php2shell:
rule: "HeaderRegexp(`Cookie`, `(?i)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:h|%[46]8)(?:p|%[57]0)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:e|%[46]5)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:s|%[57]3)(?:i|%[46]9)(?:d|%[46]4)`) || QueryRegexp(`PHPSESSID`, `.*`) || HeaderRegexp(`Content-Type`, `(?i)multipart/form-data`)"
priority: 100000
entryPoints: [https]
middlewares: [deny-all]
service: noop@internal
tls: {}
middlewares:
deny-all:
ipAllowList:
sourceRange: ["255.255.255.255/32"]
✅ Test:
curl -s -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code}\n' -H 'Cookie: PHPSESSID=x' https://your-app → 403
curl -s -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code}\n' -F a=b https://your-app → 403
The edge block does not protect direct origin access. Disable upload_progress and patch PHP.
