Whilst Ireland is sending male dairy calves on long, arduous journeys to veal farms in the Netherlands and beyond, in other parts of the world something groundbreaking is happening 💚 Yes this is a dairy farm. Yes there is a better way of doing things 🐮 #dairy #calfatfoot
Sad how many dairy calves are deprived this experience. #cowcalfcontactdairy #cowwithcalfdairy #dairywelfare

A dairy farm where the cows have names and they are allowed to keep their calves. There is a better way to do dairy 💚 #dairy #cowcalfcontact #calfatfoot
Another fresh one. I don’t trust her mother, Simone, to get any closer at the moment. She’s a little protective.

Retired cows 🥰 This really is a dairy farm with a difference 🐮 At a time when I'm faced with so much cruelty seeing this warms my soul 💚
I have several retired cows that like to be combed. It’s tough spreading the love around without getting them jealous.

"There was a study done years ago on calves separated from their mothers. They gave half the calves fluid they collected from the rumen of a cow mixed in the calves’ milk. These calves did much better than the calves that didn’t receive the rumen “juice”. It was thought that the rumen juice which is loaded in good bacteria, fungii and protozoa inoculated the digestive tract of those calves, and were better at protecting their digestive tract. In this video, you see how Maisey is receiving the good bugs by licking her mother’s mouth which is teeming with these bugs. Whenever Saucey coughs up her cud to chew further, she is seeding her mouth with all of those bugs. One of the many reasons why leaving the calves with their mothers is better." From Kevin. Calf at foot dairy farms are better for the calf, better for the mother, and better for the farmer 🐮🧑‍🌾💚 You don't see this on conventional dairy farms #cowcalfcontact #calfatfoot #dairy #animalwelfare

🐄💚 Cows are good and caring mothers. As long as they are given the chance to be.
Fresh out of the oven. Helen hasn’t calved in more than 2 years. She hasn’t forgotten a thing.

“Connecting with customers is the greatest obstacle.” – Kevin, Five Freedoms Dairy (now listed on localFoddr) @kmcsween
If you sell meat, eggs, dairy, seafood, or tallow direct to customers, localFoddr is a free directory that helps people find you. You don’t need a website or a polished listing – basic is enough. Listings are free, with no subscriptions or lock-in. If being easier to find would help, you can add yourself. Link in bio.

Here’s the future I’m building with localFoddr – and if this vision resonates with you, your support truly helps me build it. (Link in the comments) A world where real food comes from real people – where families can find meat, eggs, dairy, and seafood directly from local farmers, ranchers, butchers, homesteaders, and fishers no matter where they live. A world where small suppliers aren’t invisible. Where people know who raised their food – and how. Where local food systems strengthen communities instead of disappearing. localFoddr is still small, but it’s global – and growing, farm by farm, region by region, story by story. I want to expand it so more suppliers are visible. I want more countries covered. I want more families able to buy locally. And I want to keep telling the real stories behind our food – the kind you won’t find anywhere else. Above all, I want to keep localFoddr independent: No ads. No investors shaping the mission. No fees for suppliers. Free for food seekers. Community-driven, always.

Five Freedoms Dairy has just joined localFoddr - a small, ethical raw-milk dairy in Longmont, Colorado. They keep calves with their mothers for at least four months, and feed only grass, hay and silage. Another local supplier supporting their community. Proud to have them on board. This country gives you some nice moments every now in than, so you don’t sell out to a rich hedge fund manager wanting to play yellowstone. Then it spanks you with 5 months of frozen hell that we call winter.

When a dog is surrendered to a shelter, because they got lost, because someone moved, because the new home doesn’t allow pets, or simply because their family grew tired of them, this is what happens. They sit quietly, waiting for you to return. Not for hours. Not just for days. Sometimes for months. They don’t care about toys, treats, or even food. All they want is you. If you cannot commit to loving and protecting a dog for their entire life, please do not bring one home. Say no to abandonment. Because he never would. ❤️

If the US and economy is THIS dependent on China..... then weren't we already at great risk? Seems to me the stock market action of the last few days proves Trump is more right than wrong. China could crater our economy on a whim at any moment, because apparently we can't exist without their production of essential goods...... This was made abundantly clear during COVID, but has already been forgotten. This isn't even about cheap crap you buy at Dollar General... this is about sophisticated components of essential goods.

Can a lava flow extend into the sky? No, but light from the lava flow can. One effect is something quite unusual -- a volcanic light pillar. More typically, light pillars are caused by sunlight and so appear as a bright column that extends upward above a rising or setting Sun. Alternatively, other light pillars -- some quite colorful -- have been recorded above street and house lights. This light pillar, though, was illuminated by the red light emitted by the glowing magma of an erupting volcano. The volcano is Italy's Mount Etna, and the featured image was captured with a single shot during an early morning in mid-February. Freezing temperatures above the volcano's lava flow created ice-crystals either in the air above the volcano or in condensed water vapor expelled by Mount Etna. These ice crystals -- mostly flat toward the ground but fluttering -- then reflected away light from the volcano's caldera. Image Credit & Copyright: Davide Caliò

“Who will pick our cotton if we free all the slaves?”
An estimated 70% of Wisconsin’s dairy farm workforce are immigrants, and most of them are undocumented. Without them, we don’t “got milk”.
