Im sorry but if you’re throwing ai allegations at a person who has someone with RJ’s public record batting for them then there is NOTHING sacred. What proof do you expect? People need way more discipline about how they approach AI if you want art to thrive.

Short of having a camera on someone every second they have pen on paper, you’re not getting better testimony. We live in a post ai world. It’s not going anywhere, even if the bubble pops. You aren’t going to one day be able to look back on “ai artists” as fools from a bygone era.

We NEED to learn where to draw a line and how to trust other artists. Where that line is drawn can absolutely change, but if high profile expert testimony isn’t enough, you may as well throw in the towel completely.

any commissioned art is ultimately a bespoke luxury good and the only determining factor for whether or not an artist is pricing themselves "correctly" is whether or not they're pulling consistent work. nobody is forcing you to pay for art from high-valued artists.

artist background or the use case of the work hardly matters. if someone is willing to swing the cost for the output, it's clearly at an acceptable market value. if someone outprices you, there are plenty of skilled artists who charge bargain prices. that's the market!

and no, you aren't smart if you bring up basic commodities as a gotcha. it is an ethics concern if rising prices deny access to food and shelter. it is not an ethics concern if you don't have unlimited access to professional art of an OC

I think i'm in a position where things will be ok long term, it's just going to be a very rough few months, and honestly it's hard to stay motivated for anything through it. A lot has happened in the past few weeks and it has me feeling wiped out :(

the past few weeks have honestly had me feeling more discouraged than i have in a very long time. i'm not sure if there's much more i can do than just push through it at this point

like, it took around 5 days for the direction of my life to change. I'm moving back home from where I've lived for 4 years on 2 months notice and change workplaces and academic plans in that timespan while staying on top of work and classes. difficult to tackle.
