I’m doing a live chat with @nschager about You Can See Everything, a little movie that absolutely no one is talking about, at 2 pm ET. I can’t stop thinking about this movie. I’m glad to finally get to talk about it. Join here: open.substack.com/live-strea…
People’s Sexiest Man Alive day always enthralls me, because suddenly a horde of people passionately act like someone who looks like Noah Wyle is a deformed troll who lives under a bridge
You live long enough, you become the uncle forced to buy popcorn, wrapping paper, and donate to fitness fundraisers.

A few readers have taken me to task for “missing the point of the film,” which is apparently that Elizabeth Holmes is unknowable and everything is ambiguous. Here’s my response: She went after Tyler Shultz and Erika Cheung with everything she had. I was threatened with litigation on a daily basis for months on end. It was a ruthless cover-up of a breathtaking fraud, and she was at the controls. Just a little context for those who have forgotten or didn’t follow the original story. By the way, I loved the film. #BestPicture, IMO.
A ton of people have asked me for my thoughts about “You Can See Everything,” the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary. Here they are: nytimes.com/2026/10/17/busin… via @NYTimes

Lena Dunham is officially reviving "Girls” at HBO for a five-episode season.
• Dunham will return alongside original cast members Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Andrew Rannells all returning.
• Production is set to begin in 2027, 10 years after the Season 6 finale.
• Lena Dunham said in a statement: “We always said we would only return to GIRLS if there was a specific story we were burning to tell. I've missed these characters, but for a long time I couldn’t quite picture them in the present day. Then, right around my fortieth birthday, they started talking to me in the shower. And, as you may remember, once this fivesome starts talking it’s pretty hard to get them to stop… It’s rare that you get the chance to return to something that changed your life with the gift of hindsight and a whole new level of gratitude and understanding. I love these girls (and boy), our friends at HBO, and all the people who have continued to discover the show and remind us afresh why we do this, which is the joy of being together… and the chance to wear yellow mesh…."

I finally join the legions of film writers to post a photo of the mock Playbill at a screening of The Debut
Can’t remember the last time I was as blown away by a film as I was by La Bola Negra just now. My gosh. I’m just floored.
