Gendered Disinformation is a targeted form of online abuse that spreads false or misleading information specifically designed to discredit or harm individuals based on their gender.

Wonderful video by KRYSS Network highlighting how gendered disinformation continues to silence women in politics and why it must be addressed ASAP
In politics, women are often expected to take on “softer” roles.
And when they step up to lead, they face harsher criticisms compared to men, often over absurd reasons such as:
“How can you lead if you’re not married?”
Yet if they are married, they are then accused of neglecting their family.
And this is one of the many examples where women are criticised when they are seen participating in politics.
This is gendered disinformation.
It is a tactic used to discourage and exclude women from public participation.
🚨 KRYSS is calling for efforts to block gendered disinformation before the next general election (GE16).

This type of language is harmful to all survivors of gender based violence. The usage of the word "kegigihan" implies that the survivor is to blame and not the perpetrator. We implore the media to use more survivor centric language that places that blame where it belongs.
