happy birthday umar !
not sure if you ever got this letter that i had written earlier this year but I hope you get to read it someday 🤍
the dhurandharification of indian society is complete.
violent crimes followed by spectacles of violent instant justice.
no diagnosis of root cause. no reflection on structural issues like patriarchy.
Breaking News :
Andhra Police shot the accused in yesterday’s horrific chainsaw attack on a Class 10 girl inside Raptadu Zilla Parishad High School in Anantapur district

.
movies like animal et al. represent, as @AsimAli6 described it, "reactionary masculinity stirred by gnawing anxiety over the rising demands of equality made by educated women in particular".
the violence unleashed by these movies against women isn't some side effect but the desired outcome of such male terror fantasies. the dominance of savarna ruling class ideology rests on an absolute control over women's bodies and independence. the violence that emanates from these movies is used to curb women's freedom by framing it as a women safety issue ("women in danger" who need protection by "good men" from "evil men" - love jihad laws being a classic example of such a framing)
the challenge to reactionary masculinity will come from revolutionary feminism. a truly intersectional feminist movement is needed to break the stranglehold of brahminical patriarchy in our society.

Dear non-Indian oomfs,
Please do not believe when Indians, especially immigrants to the west, tell you that our culture or Hinduism is queer-friendly. There is a lot of nuance that is buried for what is essentially propaganda that downplays the reality of queer people in India.

What separates the Savarna Left, which considers upwardly mobile Dalits “bourgeois,” from the Savarna Right, which asks how a Dalit can own an iPhone? Both imagine Dalits as disgustingly poor, perpetually deprived and incompetent to enter universities or lead their own struggles.

Many assume that studying in London makes me privileged. Until 25, my family endured landlessness, bonded labour, sugarcane migration and brick-kiln work. I have toiled through poverty. Spare me your bookish lectures on the working class wrapped in Savarna superiority.
around 20% of indian infants experience extreme food deprivation, defined as going without any food or milk for 24 hours straight.
but sure those families don't suffer from extreme poverty. they make their infants fast to pray for the long life of mahamanav, king of vishwaguru.

This is why I despise liberals who use the term musanghis to describe Muslims with regressive views. You cannot equate a persecuted minority, whose members get jailed for something this trivial, while your violent brothers in faith who mob lynch and murder in broad daylight, sometimes right in front of the cops, and still get away with it because of majoritarian privilege.
when sharjeel imam says that constitution allows fascism and proposes the necessary structural changes, savarna liberals call him "anti-national" and "terrorist".
savarna liberals project themselves as "messiah" of muslims but they have done nothing to prevent their persecution.

I can't even become “Bora”, I don't hold that kind of Caste privilege. If we had caste privilege, every girl from my basti (neighborhood) would be a leader today!
No matter how much hateful language (like "Miss Slave") casteist trolls use on social media,

But who is sitting in judgment?
Someone who doesn't even have the courage to post with own identity because doing so would reveal that he/she has not lost even a sliver of skin in any liberation struggle or had stood up to brutal state repression and all the theorizing is from the comfort of upper caste upper class privilege?
Coming from the slums doesn't mean one cannot have "brain rot" discourse. Lived experience does not automatically translate to liberatory theory and praxis.
Excellent article by #HoodCommunist on the limits of lived experience: hoodcommunist.org/2021/09/09…

Yet another death on an IIT campus. This time Dhanbad.
It is chilling how every month there is a death on an IIT campus-- & yet life goes on.
14th death on IIT campus this year. Meanwhile Sahil Wakode's parents are still on protest. Nothing changes, IIT system remains unmoved!
