Super excited to share this perspective on "How bacteria actively use passive physics to make biofilms" @PNASNews - such a rewarding writing with Liraz @lab_chai and Roberto Kolter @HebrewU @MPZ_PhysMed @UniFAU @harvardmed @spp2389 pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.24…

We discuss complex biophysical processes happening in the extracellular milieu of biofilms, from liquid-liquid phase separation, to glass transition and biomineralization and how the crosstalk of bacteria with this milieu orchestrates biofilm organisation in space and time!

How to figure out mechanical properties of whole organisms, #tissues or #biofilms just by shaking them and observing with good camera? Optical time-harmonic #elastography. Great collab w. @lab_chai, Ingolf Sack @UniFAU, @MPZ_PhysMed @ChariteBerlin @spp2389

Life is not the same since 7/10, but we have always done our best and we always will. Amidst these challenges, we're excited to share our recent paper in @CGD_ACS on calcium oxalate mineralization by a biofilm polysaccharide, which may have implications on kidney stone formation.
If you're interested in this topic, you can also explore our earlier articles on calcium carbonate biomineralization by principal biofilm components, which were published on
@JoVEJournal and @CGD_ACS.

The @BBCNews gets it’s arse handed to it again. This time incredibly politely by an international law expert who gift wraps the BBC’s arse for them and hands it over with a card saying: “Dear BBC - please find enclosed your arse”
