Today, @AndreaEganGS has written to @EHRC Chair Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson challenging their statement, giving examples from our members where employers are withdrawing trans inclusive policies and using the code of practice guidance as the reason. Read: unsn.uk/4opISUk
Our draft Code of Practice helps providers of services, public functions and associations apply the Equality Act 2010. It doesn't apply to workplaces; employers should consult the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regs 1992, the Equality Act, and seek independent legal advice.

You can’t really accuse the Greens of splitting the vote if you trigger a by-election to play party politics

it’s interesting that it’s gone completely over people’s heads why a trans woman in this situation would refer to herself this way, it’s a power move to deflect the taboo and shame back on the guy who in this moment is supposed to have power over her

Hundreds of people marched through Bristol today campaigning for better rights for the transgender community. Although the city is seen as one of the safer places for trans people to live, organisers of Trans Pride Bristol say more still needs to be done. Watch the full report on ITVX: tinyurl.com/3rsf5m6v

The queer vegans of Levenshulme are worthy voters too, who shouldn't be taken for granted(!)
Gutted and sad Labour lost glad Reform didn’t win . Greens campaign was divisive and shamelessly courted one part of the community but people were terrified Reform could do it . Lessons to learn thanks to every single one of our supporters who never gave up and did their best

I think this (sadly) ignores everything that Louks did after her post. I don't think she got a trade book because of her tweet, she got a trade book because of her ability to communicate with the public on social media *afterwards* as well.
I'm not saying academics shouldn't use social media to spread information about my research - I do that myself! But this was a rather extreme situation where an academic got a massive career boost, based on something so trivial as a single tweet.

She's had an impact on the way people who have read her commentary think about smell, and her breadth of interdisciplinary knowledge shows the value of what is often seen as a very abstract impractical area of study.

I found out about the attack in Heaton Park at the start of the Yom Kippur service I was attending in South Manchester. After our morning service, the synagogue leadership decided it was too risky to let the service continue IRL, so it was stopped and we were gradually dispersed.

Seeing people trot out their view of what this ""means"" (obviously totally in line with whatever their existing views were) just seems totally at odds with the values of the Days of Awe. A time for critical reflection and making amends.

I don't know what this means. I just know that it hurts, that my people are in pain, and that I want to be with them. At this stage, I don't need it to mean any more than that.

Right about now, a group of workers are gathering to picket their workplace. This is the first strike at a hotel chain in Britain since the 1970s. Send your support to @FairHospitality as their members start a strike at @Village_Hotels! ✊✊✊

It isn't *essentially* asking about ASAB, I'd argue. There are non-binary people AMAB who are TME because not all non-binary people AMAB are transfeminine.
i think people taking issue with the tme/tma bit are missing that in the context of a nonbinary person it is essentially asking about asab

I think it can *functionally* be about ASAB, because it's often used to explore transmisogny within trans communities. It's much easier for trans people AFAB to leverage birth assignment to do transmisogny than for TME non-binary people AMAB.

Lights, camera, trans action! 🎥 Attitude investigates representation in the industry. For @larsfellows, the first trans man to appear on I Kissed a Boy, his foray into the public sphere is unique, and for many offers hope that representation of trans people is something that can exist in real life and not just fiction. After starring on the most recent series, Fellows’ cheeky grin and ability to not take himself too seriously has been an instant hit with audiences. Read the full feature on trans visibility on television here: bit.ly/3Gh2kkj

FWIW, under the NHS the following would need to have happened before you would be approved for surgery (as a minimum): 1) Diagnosis of gender incongruence/dysphoria, resulting from at least two hour long appointments with a healthcare professional.
I canceled phase 1 of phalloplasty that was set for January 7th of this year. It was after that in which I really started to question myself. I was *this* close to doing something I would really regret now. I originally canceled it because of the political climate. Now I’m just happy it never happened. I had a lot of emotions at the OBGYN that day when I put a stop to it. Phase 1 was going to be removal of the vagina. A vaginectomy. I had already done months of hair removal on my arm to get ready for phase 2. Luckily all my arm hair has grown back. This is why I believe that the medical standards for transition must be changed.

2) Having been on testosterone for >1 year 3) (Most likely) having had top surgery and recovered from it 4) All health conditions reasonably controlled 5) Two* hour long appointments with a doctor or psychologist *just* to confirm eligibility *Only 1 needed if you have a GRC

6) At least two appointments with a surgeon I'm not sure what more appointments would do at this stage? What more gatekeeping would be needed, or would be useful?
