So, today the U.K. announced it’s supporting the Saudis with jets; France’s Macron is visiting Kuwait; Qatar signed a defence deal with Türkiye, Pakistan, and Indonesia; There are (dubious) rumours of Russia offering air support to Iran; And of a third US aircraft carrier to arrive in the region next month; And Libya and Türkiye agreed to split the eastern Mediterranean into new exclusive maritime zones that cut off Cyprus from the rest of the Sea and Israel from Greece; AND the U.S. ambassador to Türkiye stated at the Doha Global Security Forum that the US no longer wants to own the “Grand Bargain” of oil in return for U.S. protection; that it’s no longer guarantor to the world as for the last 80 years; and this isn't "abandonment" but the U.S. now only wants to "tend" the region - a process similar to "raising teenagers.” And it’s only Tuesday. And I am probably missing something…
