Gamers kept AMD afloat for years while they fought Nvidia. Now Lisa Su says they’re a “data center-first company.” Gaming revenue dropped 40% while the AI side prints money... Same story as Nvidia. GPUs are already ridiculous. RTX 5090 listings hit $7k–$9k. RX 9070 XT sits around $800–$900 against a $599 launch. Mid-range cards are 30–70% over MSRP. How utterly convenient. The people who built the company get priced out while the AI money rolls in. We are so cooked.

People should always be in control of the future. OpenAI is against the notion that it would be acceptable for people to be relegated to a role of doing things that “AI systems think makes sense to reward in humans”. People should not cede control of the future to superintelligence, and that requirement should ultimately constrain AI progress.
