From Mary Montero (@teachingwithamountainview on Instagram): 👀 A look back at some of my very favorite and ESSENTIAL lessons about the difference between making literal observations and inferences!
![What can I infer?
[Photo of hikers with text about their activity, like "It must be cold since they have on long sleeves and warm hats"; "The trees don't have leaves, so it must be fall or winter."]](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F4iiaW3WEAAtNU1.jpg?name=small&format=webp)
ALT What can I infer? [Photo of hikers with text about their activity, like "It must be cold since they have on long sleeves and warm hats"; "The trees don't have leaves, so it must be fall or winter."]

ALT Literal vs. Inferential Thinking We make literal observations that help us infer or draw conclusions about what might be true. 1. This might have happened during summer 2. Since the dog ran right for a drink from the sprinkler, he must have been thirsty. 3. The pup drank water when he got out. 4. It was perfect timing because the kids had been outside in the heat for hours.

Retweet if you think K-12 public schools need more counsellors during and after a global pandemic.
Hi, I would like to let ppl know that SD 61 (Victoria) has proposed cuts to school counselling in the budget proposal. Next week is the 2 year anniversary of Covid-19 hitting B.C. at large. You guys? We need MORE staffing 4 counsellors, not LESS. 😭 sd61.bc.ca/wp-content/upload… #bced

UPDATE: the owner of Hope Pizza Place is now going car to car and giving stranded passengers pizza. He’s refusing any payment and handing out pizzas to those stuck in their cars due to the power usage and highway closures. A little bit of kindness goes a long way. The owners of Hope Pizza Place served hot tea and toast to those stuck in their cars due to power outages and mudslides closing the highway. @CityNewsVAN #BCStorm

BC is in the middle of COVID19's fourth wave, driven by the more transmissible Delta variant. #BCed schools can't be "back to normal" on September 7. #BCpoli must act and implement strong safety measures.
