8+ years designing products used by millions of people, in telecom, entertainment and energy
big orgs, end to end: product vision, systems, deciding what ships first, and shipping the interface that turns a finished technology into something people actually use
now i want to put those years where it matters most: hard tech. energy, space, health, the machines that make things
bc most hard tech doesn't die in the lab, it dies somewhere between the lab and the people who need it. the science holds, the demo works for the team but it's not legible to an investor, a customer or an operator: that's a design problem
so karda is a one person product design studio for founders and companies building in AI, deep tech, hard tech and consumer hardware
an idea that needs to exist as something you can click, a raise that needs a real product on screen or a product that works but doesn't convince yet
a few things about how i work:
I build: prototypes in code, with ai end to end, so what you test behaves like the real thing
I deep-dive: papers, docs, specs, until i can explain your tech back to you
I co-founded nanoguild: a french community of deep tech builders
I solder, print, wire and tinker with things: that's how i'm learning what a hardware constraint feels like
if you're building something hard and it's not landing yet, my dms are open ↓

built a quick prototyping lab with @bot this morning
when I got an idea:
I prompt my « prototype-lab » bot from my phone → test the result in html → refine it → the bot turns it into a demo video
here is a quick output example:
3 weeks ago i built and shipped @wormholedaily in a weekend
it's a daily fact site about science and tech at the edge of the possible, with one idea in mind: an optimistic look at the future
guidelines and direction are human-made, everything else is AI-generated: content, images, follow-up questions, etc... and the whole pipeline runs on its own
not every project needs an outcome in mind and it was fun to build
for now, the way i keep most of the control over grok bot's output is by having it read and write an external brain in a github repo
so if grok bot dies or the costs become unsustainable, i'll only lose the automations, not the output
a great agentic interface should reduce the number of interfaces you're forced to check and be in contact with
spent the last 2 hours setting up my grok bot army from scratch and it was soooo smooth
my last harness experience was on openclaw and it's night and day
I accepted the proprietary ecosystem because I tend to drop whatever isn't easy to maintain
that trade-off is probably what will make me stick

Ben Wilson (@BenWilsonTweets) has stage 4 cancer and 4 kids under the age of 5.
I want to help him as much as possible, so I invited him on the podcast to talk about his work studying history’s greatest leaders and what it’s like getting told he’s going to die at 38.
He’s a good guy, a close friend, and one of my favorite podcasters.
His work has benefited millions of people all across the world.
Please watch this episode and see if you can help with medicine, introductions, or donations.

buy this so in a few months when AI has taken everyone's job you'll be able to print infinite Warhammer minis

The Fermi paradox: life elsewhere looks likely, yet the universe we observe looks empty. Enrico Fermi, whose name it carries, never published a word about it

A Soviet research hole sunk from 1970 and given up at 12,262 metres. Nothing has gone deeper straight down since: at that depth the rock is 180°C and stops behaving like rock.

The Casimir effect is a pull between two uncharged surfaces set very close together, caused by the fluctuations of empty space. Shake that emptiness fast enough and it gives off real light.

Muon tomography images the inside of solid things using particles made by cosmic rays. In 2017 it found a void at least 30 m long inside the Great Pyramid, without drilling a hole.

I am confident there will be as many designers replaced as developers. At the very least.
If we look at the numbers, 90%+ of designers have not done any interesting work, they existed because they were able to execute based on design systems. We needed them because they knew how to use complex apps and because they had some basic understanding of design rules.
The same goes for developers, the vast majority of developers existed because we needed them to write boring code to get something that is 100% figured out to work properly. There was nothing else asked of them. They are a means to an end the same way most designers are a means to an end.
There are only three ways now as designer:
1. Double down entirely on your personality, taste, skills and what makes YOU unique to work with (there will be a small percentage who will be able to do this)
2. Acquire new technical skills, take over the role as designer & developer & product person and become useful to an industry that is seeking exactly this type of person.
3. Start dancing on TikTok, YouTube, IG etc.
