Completed: The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time remake. I have a lot to say, but I'll keep it brief; Despite this being made by a younger team, they somehow managed to not only replicate the sense of wonder and adventure from the 98' original, but surpass it in every way. This has all the bells and whistles of tech today, but the heart and soul of a bygone era of gaming. While it is very simple by modern standards, its true strength comes from the fundamental goal of a videogame; To be fun. This was quite simply the most impressive effort I've seen from Nintendo. The idea of taking one of the most beloved games of all time and doing it justice must have been Herculean. But those madmen somehow pulled it off and then some. It was so good, I had to keep playing every moment I could find. I miss this style of Zelda so much, I hope those who never experienced it give this a whirl. 100/100

BotW and TotK are masterful games and just what Zelda needed at the time. But I absolutely believe that the future should be (and will be) going back to the classic 3D linear Zelda format that everyone is experiencing again right now with Ocarina of Time Remake. It’s just better.

Nintendo revealed the game director of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake is HokWai Ng! He joined Nintendo in 2006 as a planner and worked on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Zelda series Producer Eiji Aonuma says one of the reasons they remade Ocarina of Time is to help new staff understand the significance of the original to help them make new Zelda games in the future! "This year marks the 40th anniversary of the very first Legend of Zelda game. With that in mind, I was thinking about what I should create as the producer of the series. Many of the team members who work alongside me on Legend of Zelda games today have only experienced developing the more recent titles. That led me to wonder, “Do they truly understand just how significant The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was to the series as a whole?” Of course, there are team members who vaguely know the game, and those who played it in their childhood days. But I started to wonder how they'd interpret The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as they go about developing future Legend of Zelda games. By learning the game structure and development style behind the original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and by actually rebuilding it as a full remake, it may trigger new insights that they can carry forward into future development. If we could achieve that, I thought it would be incredibly valuable.
