You can spend tens of millions of dollars on four of the best players of all time and flank them with about 27 of the top-rated prospects in South America, but it won't save you when you have to play Brad Guzan in a Round One playoff series

This MLS playoff format is truly bonkers. A team should not be able to lose a knockout round match 4-0 and have any serious hope of progressing to the next round. It should either be over or extremely likely to be over at this point.

We talked to Georgi Minoungou today. He’s clearly pretty pumped about getting to face the Timbers and paying back some of the love he’s felt: “I’m learning every time we play the Timbers we want to win. It doesn’t matter how we do it, but we have to do it. It gives me something.”

As more MLS end-of-season ballots are made public, I continue to be astounded that Yeimar seems to be getting no love for Defender of the Year. He’s easily the best defender on the best defense. I realize some metrics don’t love him, but his quality is so obvious…

I genuinely hope that Sounders ownership realizes that the more they hype this, the more expectation there will be for big signings to bolster roster.

So that @LAFC goal in the @usopencup final? I have Bogusz being offside by about a foot.

Sounders have dropped eight points at home on goals in 89th minute or later. They’d be tied with Galaxy at top of west with those points.

Pretty sure Hugo lloris is the first World Cup winner to play a competitive match at Starfire

The Sounders drop to 0W, 5D, 5L against the top 6 teams in the West.
They are winless against the top 11 teams in the league.
The transfer window is open. Ruidiaz is still a DP substitute. They have a buyout. They have an open U22 slot. They can improve if ownership wants to.

even at the end, sol couldn’t put aside his own love and guilt to recognise how much he wounded her by his dishonesty. he talked himself into his own death because he never thought she could be his killer. it’s arrogance. it’s tragedy. it’s brilliant. #TheAcolyte

There were a lot of very good reasons not to bring Berhalter back, and thus a lot of reason to fire him now, but if they play Uruguay well and he gets fired for not advancing then you’re basically firing him for Weah doing something very dumb, which would very dumb itself
