Let me get this straight: Anthropic waited for xAI, Meta, and OpenAI to all release their own bot agents, while giving us the impression they’d never launch an agentic bot of their own because of how distributed Claude Code, Claude Design, and the rest of the Claude ecosystem already are. Then, just a few weeks ago, Opus 5.5 became Grokbot’s main model for tackling major work. Only for Anthropic to come out of nowhere and tease a bot app of its own: Claude Duet. And the best part? It looks like it’s going to be accessible to at least 90% of people on a paid Claude subscription. Conway/Duet is almost here!
We’re opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf.

I haven't been this excited about smartphone apps since 2008. The iPhone Duo seems to have galvanized the developer community, leading to an explosion of novel concepts and new designs. Feels like the iPhone 3G all over again, and I'm *very much* here for it

Mark Zuckerberg says compute is "one of the biggest constraints" on Muse: it’s expensive enough to run that Meta hasn’t launched it globally, even with 10 million sign-ups in the US and Canada alone “Right now for Muse, one of the things I pointed out is we have more than 10 million people in the US and Canada who have set it up." "But I think one of the biggest constraints so far is that because this is a compute intensive service to run, we have not launched it globally yet. That’s partially because of wanting to optimize it for each place, and there’s some work around connectors for that, but it’s partially that we want to make sure that we do this efficiently.” “So there’s pros and cons there. The pro of course is that that just makes it even more impressive that you have 10 million people using it and signing up to use it in the first six weeks, because those are all Americans and Canadians in a small number of markets. So if we actually did roll it out more broadly, then you would expect that number to be significantly larger than what we’re seeing today. But then on the flip side, we actually have to go do the work to bring the efficiency in line to make that make sense.”
Mark Zuckerberg says Muse users already bring Meta “several hundreds of dollars” a year each across its family of apps, and Muse itself should eventually earn even more per user, mostly through fees on the shopping it handles “From a business perspective, the average revenue per American user for our existing Muse users is, sorry, for our existing family of apps users is several hundreds of dollars annually." "And we expect that Muse will reach an even higher level over time due to the amount of commerce that we already see taking place. This will take some time, but we’re starting to work on this now." "Our business model will have a few components. For most people, the product should be free and we will build commerce tools. So we get paid a fee based on the transactions that we help facilitate. We expect this will be paid for by businesses." "For people who want the most advanced models or to use extra tokens, they subscribe directly and pay. For business owners who want additional features to use Muse to grow their businesses or for companies that want people to use Muse for work, they will be able to subscribe directly and pay as well." "And for those who want Muse to help improve the personalization and quality of their content and ads across Meta, they will be able to connect to those experiences as well." "Just to clarify, the average revenue that I was talking about before is the family of apps revenue for our existing Muse users.”

🇺🇸 Meta just got hit with a whopping $25 BILLION penalty in New Mexico. A jury found Facebook misled users about who could access their personal data, bringing the Cambridge Analytica scandal back to haunt the company. Remember that one? Data from up to 87 million Facebook users was harvested without their consent, and Cambridge Analytica later worked on Trump's 2016 campaign. The judge actually calculated a penalty of over $219 billion before bringing it down to $25 billion. And all that money is supposed to go to New Mexico's schools, though Meta is expected to appeal. Facebook paid $5 billion over the same scandal back in 2019. This time, the bill is 5 times bigger. Source: NBC News / Writer: Daniyal

NEW: El Salvador President Nayib Bukele launches military operation in Haiti, threatens to eviscerate Haitian gangs as he did to gangs in El Salvador if they don't return hostages. The statement came after four Salvadoran men were kidnapped by Haitian gangs. "Today's attack is nothing compared to what is coming if we do not get all four hostages back alive," he said. Bukele says the four Salvadoran men are aviation technicians. "They were kidnapped in a cowardly manner while returning after buying food at a market in the area. "That is why, today, we have launched a military operation to rescue them. We have a single objective: to bring our four compatriots back home alive, without any harm." Bukele then issued a warning if gang leaders harm any of the men. "I want you, the gang leaders, to understand one thing very clearly: today's attack is nothing compared to what is coming if we do not get all four hostages back alive..." "And do not take our word for empty threats. We have already finished with the gangs in El Salvador, and we can finish with you too..." "Return our four compatriots to us alive, without any harm, and everything will go back to how it was before the kidnapping."

Jamie Dimon says he refused to let political pressure stop him from working with Trump: “Forget all that. What’s the right thing to do? And then do it.” 🇺🇸 “When Trump became president, I went on his business council. My daughter wrote me a long, beautiful, elegant, thoughtful letter ending with a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.‘s Letter from Birmingham Jail. My other daughter and my wife said, ‘Ditto. And don’t come home for dinner.’ I wrote back and said, ‘You got everything right except for one thing. Martin Luther King would have gone to the White House every day to further his goals and his values.’ People get pushed around by the press. Don’t do that. Forget all that. What’s the right thing to do? And then do it. We’ve always tried to support the American government under every president. The press attacks you from the left and the right. I’m used to that.” In America, there’s been this silent shift of divide that’s only continued to increase. Many Americans forget we’re on the same team, and should support whoever wins and gets into office. Because it’s a direct representation of what the majority believed to be the right decision. No matter what political party they identify with. Elections are cyclical.

anthropic and openai have completely opposite compute strategies anthropic buys from everyone. $111b with google for TPUs, $110b with amazon for trainium, $31b with microsoft, and ~$135b with neoclouds like spacex, nscale, lambda, and volta openai bet on doing compute itself. $300b with oracle for stargate, $250b with microsoft, and its own stargate campuses in texas, ohio, and georgia anthropic signed roughly 3x more neocloud capacity than openai, and around two thirds of its commitments are on non-nvidia chips
anthropic is locked into $450 billion of compute. it has to pay whether it uses it or not anthropic's revenue is about $70 billion a year. roughly (though contracts change price every year), it's $45 billion a year for a decade. that's most of what they make a year today the contracts they've signed is a long-term bet that demand for claude keeps growing in $600B in compute contracts, $450B can't be canceled. the only deal that can be left is @SpaceX (up to $84.5B, with 90 days' notice) if things don't work out, anthropic's only way out of these deals is renting the gpus to someone else

Much like in the Monopoly game linked to Risk—which are part of the "Millenium Pyramid and Eye of Providence" system and the "Fortune" Series 7 FINRA of stock-market-driven capitalist corporations (connected in turn to *The Game of Life*, *The Matrix*, *The Sims*, and *SimCity*)—when you structure a "SEAL Team 6"-style unit (a "5-Star-plus-1" category Monopoly house) with a base value of $1 par value (the value of the George Washington bill), you can trade, buy, and sell components of that house such as single players or the whole house within your company based on budget allocations and internal company house valuations, or between companies as spin-offs or selling the whole combined company with all its houses held inside. xitter.cf/lewisrashe/status/2109…

If the company fails, you can simply break down the company into its component houses to sell those as well as break out star players and sell them all off like a corporate raider; this is because these houses as a component and particular star players—whether within the larger enterprise of say an Apple Fortune 3000 with an iPod shuffle system for its houses or pods within the company or across the larger stock market system of many different publicly traded companies—as they all possess a monetary value based on the internal statistics of the house as a whole or of the individual star players comprising it. I estimate that a well run professional "Fortune 1" house is worth $1.66 billion if it is well-structured and operates as a proper business unit with its own hierarchical networks of at will employee forces; that is why we call this the *Yu-Gi-Oh!* "Millennium Eye and Pyramid" puzzle, as the corporate fortune series corporation becomes highly complex over time. This means that a "Fortune 10" is worth about $16.6 billion; a "Fortune 100," about $166 billion; ...and a "Fortune 1000" company is worth $1.66 trillion (Samsung is a "Fortune 720" valued at $1.2 trillion), whereas Apple a Fortune 3000 on its own—driven by its subsidiaries—or the South Korean stock market as a whole (equivalent to a "Fortune 3000") reaches a value of $5 trillion. This dynamism, in turn, allows the philosophy of "leaving no brother or sister behind" to take root, ensuring that the less competitive segments of the "Fortune" corporate network are permitted to fail—as the network scales from the 100th position to the 3000th and beyond—by transferring their assets to more competitive companies or to new startups. This is akin to building a dynamic entity that evolves and never dies which defines dynamic evolutionary capitalism over more static centrally controlled communism. This is why it’s called The Network in the 1976 movie. xitter.cf/lewisrashe/status/2107…
