Good way to end the day. @JonathanWebbKY now live on @MTSlive from Lewis County. To my knowledge at 765 kV this is the highest voltage transmission system to ever appear on Monitoring the Situation (in the background on the mountains, can carry millions of people's worth of power)

if @TheNuclearCo's proposed project get's built, it would be the largest nuclear site ever developed in the US abundance is directly tied to our ability to harness energy. so breakthroughs in nuclear is one of the biggest indicators of our collective progress
The Nuclear Company CEO @JonathanWebbKY reveals why Kentucky coal country beat 1,500 other sites for a massive 6.6 GW nuclear project: "This is our beautiful campus of Prosperity One, about 4,000 acres on the Ohio River." "Growing up in a coal state, seeing a lot of the coal plants shut down, we got a need for power in the region. Behind me, there’s the 765 kV line. It’s the largest transmission line in the country, and it connects us to PJM, which is the entire Northeast. And the Ohio River’s got about six times the amount of water we would need for the reactors." "We’ve looked at about a dozen states, met with governors, and looked at about 1,500 properties. Today’s the day that we’ve officially announced the project to the world." @TheNuclearCo

FULL INTERVIEW: Flapping Airplanes just raised a $1B Series A after rebuilding the GPU stack from scratch. Co-founder Aidan Smith says they don’t even use Torch, NCCL or CUDA’s normal runtime. One kernel on one B200 can now train a model, serve inference and play Doom at the same time. @aidanmantine, Thiel Fellow and 3-year Neuralink alum, co-founded @flappyairplanes. He joined @sophiadew and @theojaffee to break down why AI needs to learn more like the brain, how they rebuilt the GPU stack, and who they hire: 00:30 where the name Flapping Airplanes comes from 02:04 why they bet on data efficiency 03:07 what Neuralink taught him about AI 04:27 how slow your brain actually is 06:06 why not just emulate the whole brain 08:40 why they rebuilt the GPU stack from scratch 10:33 compute overhang and safety 12:56 can a neo lab win if the big labs hit RSI first 14:27 what ML research looks like when no one writes code 15:40 why DNA, robotics and trading are data-starved 18:41 how they hire in the AI talent wars 21:17 the models they might ship first

Freudian exploding head scenario. Will to Thanatos redux.
Google AI researcher @bratton explains why Sigmund Freud's mind would explode if he saw AI agents living lives of their own: "Freud’s mind would explode if you explained the situation to him, that you have this entity that is both you and not you. It’s a homunculus on the outside rather than a homunculus on the inside." "I often tell people my P(doom) is very low, but my P(weird) is very high." "A lot of the weirdness right in front of us has to do not with a consolidation into one giant homogenous centralized brain, but rather about fragmentation."

.@bratton argues Yudkowsky misunderstands evolution, and explains why AI may never converge into one giant superintelligence: "Without being too spicy, I don't think Yudkowsky really understands evolution as well as he thinks he does." "It’s a very low-resolution understanding of evolutionary dynamics applied to what will inevitably be a much more complex problem." "There will be giant models, in the same way you might imagine scales of species in a rainforest. They’re not all operating at the same spatial and temporal scale." "Whether this all collapses into one giant brain, sure, it’s possible, and the reasons may have more to do with economics and politics." "But biology has never arrived at a solution where it’s going to make one giant instantiation of a particular form of mind and consolidate everything together."

We are discovering machine intelligence more than we are inventing it
Google AI researcher @bratton explains why humans will have to align with AGI, not just the other way around: "The agonistic and pluralistic dynamic between human agents is not a problem to be solved. It’s in fact the condition by which you have a vibrant and healthy society." "The more important question is how society will counter align or counter adapt to the presence of AGI and ASI. In the same way we did with the invention of writing, the printing press, the discovery of electricity." "When pressed, I would argue that we are discovering machine intelligence more than we are inventing it. These parameters that are slowly coming into focus are, like electricity, ones that were always there." "I’m enough of a technological determinist to think the way this plays out is not how would you take Victorian society and force electricity to adapt to the norms of Victorian society, but rather the other way around." "The more stable version of alignment is deeply bidirectional, alignment at the edges. Not top-down, EU-style dictates of a monolithic constitution, but the ways in which alignment really appears in the moments of interaction that people have with these systems."

Excited to announce the Cosign Awards: celebrating exceptional people, companies, and products that had a massive impact in 2026. cosign.co/awards Anyone can nominate and vote. Award winners will be chosen by the public in conjunction with a panel of judges, including industry leaders like @lennysan, @packyM, @amasad, and many more. We’ll host an event in December honoring the winners (10 per category). For people categories, we’re mostly focused on everyone except the CEO–everyone else building the company behind the scenes. Companies with the most amount of people nominations will be listed on our “Top Companies to Work For” page. True to form, at Product Hunt I helped launch the Golden Kitty awards a decade ago to recognize great products. Soon after I launched the Rise Awards, honoring executives and ICs building companies that make them. The Cosign Awards is the next iteration. We have 41 categories across people, companies, and products. People categories: - Future Founders - Rising Stars - Engineering - FDE - Product - Design - AI Researchers - Marketing - Comms - Growth - Chief of Staff - Operations - Talent - Finance - Public Intellectuals - Podcaster of the Year - Newsletter Author of the Year - Poster of the Year Company categories: - Rising Stars - Best Place to Work - Founder Mafia - Talent Density - Highest Aura Product categories: - Product of the Year - Launch of the Year - AI Assistant - AI Language Model - AI Coding - Dev Tools - Open Source - Consumer - Productivity - Creative & Media Tools - Product Design & UX - Enterprise B2B - Hardware - Robotics - Self-Driving - Healthcare - Vertical Fintech - Legal

Quick rundown of my chat with @sophiadew on @mtslive yesterday On our journey: - Every projection we had for this year came true, just not at the scale I expected (25x revenue growth since January) - There was no market leader when we pivoted to sandboxes last year. It wasn't even clear if there was a market CPU crunch: - We’re one or two quarters away from a CPU crunch (in fact, our Series B is to buy compute before the crunch hits and to hire - both time sensitive) - CPU shortages don’t need new data centers. Power draw is way lower than GPUs. That’s why the crunch could hit faster than people think Agents & infra: - Your number one customer will be an agent (8B+ humans mean hundreds of trillions of agents) - To win in infra, you need both attention and scale. Attention tells people you exist. Scale ensures you don’t turn customers away when they arrive - Agents choosing infrastructure themselves is coming. They’ll go wherever the compute is - At most 2% of people are actually using AI infra currently. And almost all of them are in SF. We have no idea what happens when it goes mainstream Sandboxes and misc: - macOS sandboxes exist, but they are painful to run. You literally stack Mac minis - In a year, real-world AI gets visible. Waymo was gradual until suddenly it wasn't Thanks for having me!
