What we are building at @terrain_hq is special. Maybe I'm biased, but I can't wait to show you. The idea came from my own life. But an idea is only the surface. When we started digging, we hit problem after problem. Blockers. Doubts. Long nights. At one point, I wanted to quit. I told myself, if I stop, this will be my last startup. I'll just focus on my career (you can win big by being great at your job). Or maybe join a German colleague who wanted to build a "sovereign Vercel." But the more i lean towards quitting the more my ADHD brain resist. Every wall we hit, we found a way around it. And real estate in Nigeria is not an easy space right now. It's sensitive. People are careful, and they should be. Along the way, we built a strong business model. We met the right people. We made real connections. Today, I'm confident in what we're offering. Yes, it's a property marketplace. I know, there are many. But our research showed that almost all of them work the same way. Terrain doesn't. Terrain works in a very unique and interesting way. I like decisions backed by data. And the data says Nigerian real estate still has huge room to grow. Fintech pushed Nigeria's transaction volumes up. I believe proptech, Terrain and others like us, can do the same for property. I studied Zillow, the biggest proptech company in the US. The more I learned, the surer I became that we're on the right path. We've had early investor interest, but our focus right now is proving the product works. We're not just building software. We're building hardware too. Our biggest job now is earning people's trust, once we do that, I believe it would be great for the Nigerian ( and eventually African ) real estate market.

Day 13 of #ML with Python and Scikit-learn Heavy data prep day. Dropped useless columns, separated inputs from targets, and learned how to spot data entry errors by checking the min/max values in describe(). I used SimpleImputer to fill missing numeric values with the mean.

I quit product design. This is so hard for me to write, design was something I love, was endeared to, and believed very much in. The last one month has been an eye opener. I became incredibly ill, ran through multiples tests, medications and injections. At first my savings was enough to take care of proceedings, but I grossly underestimated the length of my battle with these illnesses. I eventually ran out of funds as the need for more testing arose, and I had to depend on family and close friends for support. That’s when I realized the work of my hand was not enough to even sustain my health when I needed it to, at least at this stage and that is not the life I signed up for. For one month, I couldn’t open my pc to work, doomscrolling became my only activity of the day. I came on here frequently and the AI buzz didn’t help matters. Every tech person is worried about their job security long term, job opportunities has dried up, and it’s a lot tougher when you’re Nigerian, we’re judged before we even make a case for ourselves when an opportunity comes knocking. I’ve had my fair share of clients and opportunities across different continents, but at this point in my life, I need stability. In a couple of years, I’ll get married and start a family, the volatility of freelancing especially as a Nigerian is not something to carry into building a family or taking care of things within the household. This is not to discourage anyone who looks up to me, or sees my work as a point of motivation. Everyone’s timeline is different and mine is pushing me somewhere else, design remains an incredible career path but it doesn’t align with my vision for the future. A time was had, now I have to move on to something bigger. ❤️

Replying to @Kalshi
kinda true, but if you wrote sh*tty code by hand, you will generate sh*tty code with bots, just much more of it.

I was brainstorming with Claude on something, and claude gave me options, option B was the most suitable but the execution was not what I would go for, because it doesnt makes sense to me technically, and claude told me there is no other way to go around that. Today, I noticed Vercel is doing what I was brainstorming, and I thought to myself did they actually did it via what claude told me as the only way? After many thoughts, I figured how they did it, then I asked Claude, if its possible that way, and Claude was like, “Yes this is the most suitable way to go around it bla bla bla bla” Just to mention I was using opus 5.5. At the very least, with this, I’d say my agent has done a pretty poor job. Perhaps it’s a prompt issue on my part which I highly doubt but even if it is a prompt issue this demonstrates that they’re not smart enough to tell me exactly what’s suitable for my needs. Imagine someone with less experience working on something critically important. Leveraging their agentic expertise, they would have chosen this completely bogus and herrendos approach.

We already kicked things off with a nice presentation by jesse posner on ice-berg. I am having fomo already, too many interesting talks running concurrently.
Curious about what Shielded Bitcoin is? You're lucky! The three authors of the paper will be at the Bitcoin Research Day in Amsterdam, Oct 27th. But it gets better: one of the talks is precisely about this. Don't miss it, come hang with us (link in the next tweet).

Not easy
i think one of the toughest phases of building a company is when you're good enough to get paid well elsewhere, but what you're building still can't afford to pay you properly.

Hey 👋 We've been building @cap_wallet and its sub-products: a self-custodial financial super-app and terminal for individuals, businesses and, in time, institutions. Now we're opening our pre-seed round. I'm looking for individuals who will come in as angels, bring their networks and experience, and take a board seat alongside the team. If you'd like to talk, my DMs are open, or you can reach me by email at [email protected].

there are so many things devs(including me) building products for everyone get wrong, it’s so revealing. never saw the reason for model auto routing based on task difficulty @zorveus_ , but speaking with customers now showed that it’s one thing they really want. build it it is.
