Just found out that my wife calls a short article in a periodical a “news blurp” and I have never loved her more.
Video games!
Feeling pretty good and very grateful after @thegameawards. So once more, with feeling, dancing Herald of Darkness. The choreography by the brilliant Sofia Ruija. @PoetsOfTheFall @oldgodsofasgard @alanwake @remedygames @EpicPublishing
Played the first couple hours of Allen Wake 2 last night and so far it is superb. It looks great, sounds incredible, has maybe the best facial animation I've ever seen in a video game and nails both jump scares and eerie atmosphere with aplomb. I'm hooked!
Ok, I had a moment last night playing Lords of the Fallen where I kind of forgot I wasn't just playing some new Dark Souls game. Got to give the developers credit for making major improvements over the first game, especially in the feel of the game and the level design.
Ok, kind of coming around on Lords of the Fallen a bit.
After beating the first boss I’ve settled into the combat more. It feels better than I initially gave it credit for.
Still not loving the “other world” stuff, but the game has cool looking enemies and monsters.
Early impression of Lords of the Fallen is not great. It lacks a feeling of weightiness and the two worlds gimmick is really not for me. It ends up just being an incentive to rush through areas, which hamstrings the joy of methodical/tense exploration vital to great soulslikes
Just saw a post on Only Fans where a girl went to shoot content in a seemingly abandoned building only to realize it was not abandoned and I was like, damn, the horror stories really just write themselves these days!

The new version of standing on a ledge and feeling the urge to jump is reading a heinous tweet and feeling the urge to like it.
What’s the name for the kind of social anxiety where you get to the register at Costco and they tell you the muffins you have are actually 2 cases for $9.99 but you only have one case and rather than face the weirdness of going back to grab another you just say you only want one?
New name for a book or game that your not super into but feel you need to finish before moving on to the next item in your backlog:

I solved the Friday 9/22/2023 New York Times Daily Crossword in 22:20!
First time in a long time solving a Friday with no cheating. One answer I knew but wasn’t sure how to spell, so I looked that up…so maybe just a little cheating. nytimes.com/crosswords/game/…
Probably the best thing about Baldur’s Gate 3 (and there are many great things) is that you can set a special outfit for your characters to wear in camp, and that outfit can be nothing. So your camp can be a full on butt nude naked party and it’s hilarious.
Videogame UI design has never been this good again.
