Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵

The eradication of third-party Twitter clients isn’t just a Musk thing, but the lack of comms this time is beyond insulting. Doubly so to the Twitterrific lot, who defined key aspect of Twitter in the first place. furbo.org/2011/03/11/twitter…

If for some reason you want to continue to subject yourself to what I repost when the fail whale makes a permanent return, I’m starting my move to Mastodon: [email protected]
Who knows, maybe I’ll even write more of my own posts there!

This tweet is Twitter's tombstone. Advertisers should flee from this site like a burning building. I'll be winding down my involvement here too, because I didn't sign up 11 years ago to rubberneck while a #fakesavant drags this beautiful community into a toilet of disinformation.

Just popping back in to say: it's time to go. You didn't join Gab, Gab joined you. But now you're on Gab and you shouldn't be. teapawt.org/elonmusk/status/160189…

Let's be very clear about this tweet: it is a dog-whistle to an extreme, violent, anti-science rightwing, draped in flimsy 'ironic' plausible deniability. Musk does not give a damn about public health or rational discussion. He is showing you who he is - believe it

Many were here prior to Musk. But you can see what the Musk era is about on Twitter in the QTs of this thread. Literally hundreds of explicitly Nazi and anti-semitic accounts cheering on replays of the Final Solution. Of course vastly more merely Qanon, pro-Musk, pro-Trump etc.

Hey @TwitterSafety what happens when the owner of the platform is tweeting to get a scientist harassed or killed?
Eric McCarthy (Parody) retweeted
Obviously a very good and healthy sign for this platform that its owner is doubling down on the QAnon-style rantings of someone who has been deemed too extreme and unhinged for Fox News and Newsmax.

Few things have made me dislike this site more than Musk's and Taibbi's histrionic, overblown grandstanding over the past days. You're publishing internal corporate documents from the company Musk owns. It's not some historic reporting effort. Stop blathering about your process.

Twitter seems like such a great place to work. You sleep at the office. You can be fired at any time. And if the CEO really doesn't like you, he'll send an army of trolls right to your door!

So a company’s deputy GC was actively involved in reviewing the company’s internal files before they were sent to people outside the company for the purpose of making those internal files public?
Anyone who thinks this is a scandal doesn’t understand what in-house lawyers … do.
Replying to @mtaibbi
Over the weekend, while we both dealt with obstacles to new searches, it was @BariWeiss who discovered that the person in charge of releasing the files was someone named Jim. When she called to ask “Jim’s” last name, the answer came back: “Jim Baker.”

So I understand now why he has haters, but someone is going to have to explain to me why he ever had FANS.

This is so dim. First it wasn’t an act of transparency; it was a partisan hack job that revealed nothing new. Second if Elon believed in transparency he should leak his own correspondence about the content moderation decisions he’s taken. Which electeds have written him?

I’d like to thank @elonmusk for defending the 1st Amendment and exposing the biggest political scandal in history!! 🔥🍆🔥🍆🔥

The most remarkable aspect of all this is apparently @elonmusk is open to being pitched by journalists for "front page" stories on Twitter.com. Imagine if @jeffbezos teased and then personally introduced investigations of Republicans in the @WashingtonPost.

Anything that is an actual First Amendment violation?

If this isn’t a violation of the Constitution’s First Amendment, what is?
