Was looking through some of my old builds and found this! Would be cool to build in survival one day.

The deep dark feels really unfinished, there is so much more that could be done to improve it's atmosphere.
Mojang's idea for what the deep dark is supposed to be has definitely changed a lot since 1.19 so if we saw zero changes to the ancient city or sculk I would be shocked
The Sift Portal actually has 3 variations!
I'm super curious if the variance will affect how you access the Sift, I wonder what method planned would be consistent across all 3.
The second one specifically would fit perfectly with a line of note-blocks!

Disc 5 is (probably) how you get to the Sift.
Disc 5 is an obvious choice for a 'key' to the sift.
You have to explore the entire Ancient City to craft it, forcing you to interact with the structure before entering.
It also explains the portal noises heard!

This would be the funniest possible way to implement the Sift.

🔊The music disc found in the #AncientCity uses the sound effect of the Heavy Core when placed!
The Heavy Core also fits perfectly into the portal frames texture 🤔
The #1 thing I'm hoping for from the Sift is replayability.
The Nether and End both struggle with not having many reasons to go back after you loot and leave, the Sift needs an element to pull you back multiple times for it to be successful imo

Drops, with a fat update every 3-5 years sounds absolutely perfect as a long-term direction for the game.
Drops don't need to be 4 a year either
Parallel development please. Let everything take as long as it needs. No more rushed updates.
The Sift will be a renaissance for Minecraft.
Mojang deadass hired the man behind the Aether, locked him in a room for 4 years, and told him to do it again.
I love all the new biomes but seeing Mojang go deep instead of wide with all these new features would be really nice. There are a lot of uses for everything added left on the table here, I hope they get revisited.

Something I've seen legitimately noone point out is that flying your Happy Ghast at a 45* angle makes it go significantly faster than straight forward 😭

I think there are better ways of doing it. Look at what Deadlock is currently doing - They announced several new heroes, and people can vote in game which will come to the game first.

Yeah the best pathway if they do add a Sift ore would be Split Progression with it being on the same tier as Netherite. Having different classes to spec into would work really well in Minecraft in my opinion.

there’s a great reason actually. new tiers should also be an upgrade of diamond. then, when upgrading from diamond you have multiple choices.
it may be ideal to have some netherite gear and some siftine stuff
there would finally be true gear variety (if balanced well)

There's a real chance another update comparable to the Sift is being worked on right now.
In May, Agnes said the studio's current focus in the 'coming years' is Meaningful Adventures, and last Live saying the Sift being an important step but notably "not the end of it" (1/?)
It seems the way these High-Level areas of the game will be impacted is through sweeping change in background updates, with the Sift being the first public example. The Drops appear to be completely separate from the long-term vision Mojang hopes to achieve for Minecraft. (2/?)
