Loved by God. I mostly care about my family, children's spirituality, and writing. I study @TEDS, wrote #thegospelstoryhymnal.

I love the way @kkramermcginnis brought several different perspectives together for this really thoughtful piece on children, anxiety, and worship music.
"Repetitive mantras like 'My God is so big, so strong and so mighty' are words we want our children to learn, but they are capable of doing more than singing spiritual positive affirmations." christianitytoday.com/ct/202…

One day the church will have to answer for the ways our wheels of "justice" crush the innocent.

Such a gift to encourage and equip children's ministry leaders at @TheEFCA children's ministry leader network gathering! Their love for Jesus & his church is inspiring. @FaithandChild

So much of my malformation happened in the church. This ought not be.

I just learned the professional way to say "I told you so": "This was identified early on as a likely outcome."

One of my pet peeves is kids' books written by someone who seems never to have spent any time with actual kids. Christian Publishing, I'm looking at you. 👀

This is on the short list of things I will contact church leadership about. Churches that make jokes about children are not safe for children.

Our culture normalizes talking over the heads of children to the adults in the room...but the church *never* should. Church should be a place where children are *always* treated with dignity and respect. Where their personhood is never called into question, even in jest.

There's a promo video going around (i'm not going to share it) where they have kids read excuses people make for not wanting to serve in VBS. This is problematic, a thread...

If they wanted to have kids say something, they could've picked any of Jesus' words about the value of children and their place in his kingdom. THAT would've packed a punch and accomplished the same thing without demeaning anyone in the process.
