In 2015, we placed 14 teachers in schools across Armenia. We thought we were changing classrooms. It turned out great teachers can shape whole communities.
That’s what Teach For Armenia taught us, and it’s what we’ve built everything else on. Today it’s the Armenia Education Initiative: policy, higher ed, new schools, and the startups building how kids will learn next.
On December 12, we’re gathering at UCLA to mark ten years. Mostly, though, we’re gathering to talk about the next ten.
AI is changing what it means to learn, faster than any of us expected. Our kids can’t afford for us to wait and see.

On 28–29 October, UNESCO Headquarters in Paris hosted celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, concluding with a beautiful joint concert by the Hover State Chamber Choir and Vahagn Hayrapetyan Trio.

Did you know that the pomegranate is one of the most recognisable symbols of Armenian cultural heritage? Deeply rooted in our history and traditions, it represents fertility, abundance, unity and the richness of Armenian identity. 🇦🇲

"All Their Girls Carried Away."
In 1915, American missionary Tacy Atkinson hid her diary in Harput so the Turks would never find it. She watched Armenian families driven from their homes—men killed or imprisoned, girls carried away. She wrote it all down, used her position to save lives she could, and smuggled razor blades into prison for escapes.
The diary reached her in America nine years later. Published in 2000 as The German, the Turk and the Devil Made a Triple Alliance.
