Denmark is moving to ban Frankenchickens — the first country in the world to do so.
What we’ve done to chickens is the largest genetic experiment ever run on any animal, and one of the most troubling.
Geneticists took a scrawny bird and engineered an obese meat machine. The chickens we eat today grow four times faster than chickens did in 1957.
But their bodies are not four times stronger. By just six weeks old, many will suffer ailments of old age — heart failure, organ colapse — while one in four will become lame (Knowles et al., 2008).
In studies, lame birds will choose feed laced with painkillers — a sign of chronic pain (Danbury et al., 2000).
Their parents meanwhile are kept on starvation rations. Birds engineered to grow this fast would otherwise eat themselves to death before laying a single egg.
We now breed over 70 billion of these birds a year. Denmark is acting to reverse this giant genetic experiment. The rest of the world should follow suit.
The Danish government wants to ban a fast-growing breed known as “turbo chickens,” setting up another clash with the farm sector over animal welfare.

for those wondering. these run about 30-40% cheaper than waymo/uber.
obviously they are geofenced so within that area you expect them to arrive quicker than uber/waymo, that is the case. definitely on average the robotaxi eta is going to beat everybody else by a couple minutes
the biggest pain of waymo is the getting picked up part. you may think you're an acceptable pickup area and walk up trying to open the door and the waymo drives 20 yds further as if it's pranking you. robotaxi definitely better about this. Tip: when you hail the cab and you see it arriving, don't walk towards it as you would a normal cab driver. stay put, it will park then you walk up. this saves time.
the second biggest pain of waymo is they are ALWAYS yielding, seemingly always second guessing and always driving 5 mph under the limit. robotaxi does none of these things, it's a much faster ride. and like all teslas, the ride is exceptionally smooth and quiet.

seats aren't especially cozy, but they are massive. plenty of leg room for me (6'2) as well. basically sitting on a firm couch.
