My thoughts on this apply to Edgerunners, the upcoming live action movie, comics, books or spin off games: V should NEVER be explicitly canonized as male, female or as having any specific characteristics. V shouldn’t officially be a man, a woman, white, black, hispanic or asian. V shouldn’t officially be straight or gay. V shouldn’t officially be a street kid, a nomad or a corpo. V shouldn’t officially be a netrunner, gunfighter or ninja. V is the players’ character and whatever they choose to build the character into. Referencing V, or events from the game in vague terms is fine, but it should be done in a way which doesn’t undermine any player’s experience with 2077. If the character in that image IS supposed to be V, that was a mistake.
