Since if there’s one thing most Aussies (even those who are otherwise deeply conservative) detest and fear, it’s the prospect of the Americanisation of our healthcare. Medicare is sacred, and our extraordinary ability to (in most cases) receive excellent, timely and reasonably-priced care for our health needs is a fucking miracle. Of course, we know Medicare and the entire healthcare system in Australia isn’t perfect. It isn’t perfect in Canada, the UK or most of Europe, either. But the fact that Australians and other people in developed nations aren’t routinely bankrupted by their medical needs (as are tens of thousands of Americans yearly) is a blessing most of us take too much for granted. You can take our mostly-great and mostly-functional Medicare system from our cold dead fucking hands, Jess. And if more Victorians took their heads out of their arses and realised just what you and your bastard cronies intend to do to Victoria once you (probably) get into power, then many of them would reconsider their upcoming vote.
