What a book! My copy arrived yesterday and I am hooked. A must-read for anyone interested in 20C British history.
I made an excellent last minute decision to go to Liverpool to see @samwetherell launch his new book, a history that treats racialised experiences of obsolescence - not the welfare state - as the twentieth century lesson for us now. Read read read!

Very sad news. I was lucky to have been taught by him - a kind and encouraging teacher who knew how to get the best out of his students. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

This charter is our link with the Welsh Lordship of Afan, 200 years after the Norman invasion Glamorgan. Granted in 1308 by Lord of Afan Leysan ap Morgan, it is the only local example of a borough being created by a Welsh lord.

It's a tough day for the British steel industry with the confirmation that around 2,500 jobs are to be lost at the Port Talbot works in South Wales.
It's just the latest chapter in a long story of decline at the site, according to historian Dr Bleddyn Penny👇
Q for the historians: Can anyone recommend publications dealing with the housing of car factory workers in inter war / post war Britain?
