The US AI bubble is resting on 3 key assumptions: 1- shortage of compute 2- no roadblocks to the infra rollout and 3- there will be ample financing to support the outlandish capex spend assumptions. Let’s take these one by one and put it past the Casio stress test. 1/38

dude sounds like a midwit about Rust. he's embarrassing himself I hired a Rust team at Kraken in 2019-2022 to build Cryptowatch Desktop (now @KrakenDesktop ). that code was the most beautiful, elegant code I've ever worked on. everything fit together nicely. it used functional paradigms correctly. it was easy to refactor. it was easy to scale complexity. the compiler does so much work for you if you use the language correctly. I insulated the team from the PMs and bureaucrats at Kraken, and let them take their time. they wrote very nice Rust code. dunking on Rust like it's some kind of inelegant frankenstein language you shouldn't "look at" is a self-own. cool bro, I guess you just don't know how to use Rust? it's easy to write clean-looking Ruby code because the syntax is optimized for legibility, but that has all kinds of other trade-offs. refactoring Rails code is a fucking nightmare. and it's just slow.

A lot of memories in this chart. Storytime: In the early days, before high frequency trading and truly solved arbitrage in crypto, manual market making was a very effective way to participate in markets.
Yesterday we closed the book on XBTUSD — the contract that started it all. Launched on 13 May 2016, it was the longest-running perpetual swap contract in crypto. And until we are told otherwise, the longest running derivatives contract of any kind, given TradFi still trades on contracts that expire. Let's take a trip down memory lane one last time 💔

I have a lot of fond memories from the platform, even with the scaling problems they fought with for years. I remember Sam talking endlessly about the quadratic load problem, and the difficulty in improving performance of the trade\risk engines.

During its hayday, Bitmex was where everyone was. A lot of the old timers have good memories of this place. And thus, time goes on and market forces change. The sun has set now on all the work put into it, but boy it had a good run. 🫡

Deploying more capital, steady lads
🚨 UPDATE: Hunter Biden's LAPTOP team says sniper bots and thin liquidity caused the token's launch-day price swing, and is deploying 4M tokens to incentivize liquidity in Aerodrome pools.

I wrote an article about what really happened at Metaplanet, in plain English, and why so many of the influencers are quiet about it.

FORMER CREDIT SUISSE RISK HEAD SEES BITCOIN AT $150,000 CK Zheng, former Credit Suisse global head of valuation risk, says Bitcoin’s worst may be over and expects it to reach $150,000 by late 2027. Zheng sees regulatory clarity, institutional adoption and potential passage of the CLARITY Act driving the next bull cycle. He also expects rising U.S. debt to increase demand for Bitcoin and gold as dollar-debasement hedges. Bitcoin currently trades near $78,535.
