Why chat apps don’t implement a retention of last N messages or last Month messages, whatever is greater? It seems much better experience than storing things forever or opening an empty conversation

Is there a world where website will decide to not collect user data rather than showing the ugly banner “accept cookies”? It’s a so frustrating experience...

The @sfmta_muni website to pay parking citation yesterday evening wasn’t working, now it is. Is it like they turn it off in the evening and turn back on in the morning?

When I tell SF people that if you rent an apartment in London it comes with all the furniture they look at me like I'm crazy, exactly the same way when I tell London people if you rent an apartment in SF it comes empty and you have to bring all your own furniture.
Really agree, growth at all costs killed their product.
I miss Dropbox (the product) circa 2012. It was perfect. It was done. A growth mindset forced all sorts of weird products that I don’t want. I miss the small, lightweight, always works file syncing. This seems like a renewed opportunity for a small lifestyle company.

One of my favorite technology 🙂
Happy 40th Birthday to "The Ethernet"! Packets from this spec are still interoperable with today's Ethernets.

I can’t think a better way to hide this useful feature 😱 a dedicated button was too much? 🤔
Space exploration is a testament on how small we are thinking about wars, countries, races, and so forth. When we ignore that and we work together, we achieve incredible heights youtu.be/ckk5PZ1ZSck

I’m personally optimistic for San Francisco. People that came here just for a high salary are going away, rents are going down and more people that actually like the city will be able to live it.

And I like the city, it’s full of history and culture. Beat Generation, hippies, LGBT movement, and so forth. Every neighborhood it’s so different from each other, it’s amazing!

Really great read! I worked remotely for many years and clearly I see many downsides. And I don’t want to be forced to go back to it

I only disagree about the argument that high salaries are going away if we level the field. Honestly I think it should be a welcome change
Good for @EmilyKramer for sharing her story. Sadly not surprising. But for a co. meant to help w/ DEI & workplace equity, this is appalling! This is why we need to speak up, call out this insidious behavior & demand change! medium.com/@emilykramer/equi…

I think one of the downsides of working remotely is definitely the amount of writing you have to do 😞
