every invoicing tool assumes you're in the US. what about Honduran tax data? none of those have it. so I built one that actually works here. free forever.

Things you can use Al for when working on UI: - ask it to try and break the stuff you built - let it create state machines to check different scenarios (success, error, different user roles, etc.) - when finished, ask it to make before/after screenshots - make it ask you lots of questions about the thing you are working on to validate the idea - let it create a few variants of a Ul piece so you can try it out - setup loops to maintain a quality bar by constantly monitoring

this just reminds me to this book
We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

My (long) take on lovables/replits. I meet lovable+supabase customers almost weekly now. They contact me and I go get a coffee or do a call with them (many of them local) to ask how is it going. What they're building. Where the pain points are, etc. Most of them have no technical background. I check their projects for vulnerabilities and so far they've all been safe. Lovable catches most issues early. I have talked to 10+ different customers in the past few months so my sample is not very big. What's interesting: most of them have customers already. This is because instead of developer brain they come from sales/marketing/generalists and they built something where they had existing demand. Something that either complemented their existing business or they had an upper hand in gtm. They validate early and talk to customers a lot. They don't care about token cost optimization. Getting most tokens out of $ spent. This is a developer brain thing. They only care about $ spent vs $ generated and getting stuff done. This is a new type of customer that didn't exist 2 years ago. Seems like a big market, or at least we haven't seen the ceiling yet. Most of the narrative going on here is completely unaware of this customer and think that lovable are selling to regular devs. At least in my X bubble. It seems to be all SMB. If you know anything about SMBs you know that what kills them is usually bad hiring or bad GTM. They don't get to raise millions to subsidize bad hiring or bad gtm. They find that with lovable they can finally fix that problem. I own part of a small family catering business. I've built a ton of tools that help us save money and have more time to work on what's important. Not with lovable, but I can 100% understand other SMBs that find that they have access to the same solutions now. Seems to me like it's incredibly early and there's a ton of opportunity to build for these customers. But they're not on X.

I'm getting back to work my catholic library project. The main challenge is to improve the covers, they look like tombstones These covers need to make people want to look at the book. I'm thinking about oil paintings, something modern that still keeps the Catholic essence

Wrong advice for junior developer: look at the AI generated code, since you need to mature as a programmer. Right advice: save time with AI coding and write by hand "get-better" programs: interpreters, games, ray tracers, ...

there's so much value in reading engineering blogs from top tech companies you get to learn what they did, why, what alternatives they considered, and what they learned along the way all of that for free, so you can learn from their mistakes instead of repeating them

having your agent control your mobile app is so cool you can just give him access to your device, tell it to break the app and find bugs, and it’ll do it
