Lame old me talked a bit (25min) about the role of visualization in science --- forgive my poor time management: youtube.com/watch?v=7CfDEnHx…
At BCON I was personally interested to witness the constant practical constraints surrounding performance, and editability/directability.

I've always wanted my own WYSIWYG editor for my website, and now I have one! Works locally, saves changes to MDX.
But the better part is building semantic writing tools on top. Colour-coded sentence classification, flagging cliches, repetition, and claims that need citations

Monte Carlo integration lets us integrate high-dimensional functions exponentially faster than traditional methods!
Part two (thenumb.at/Monte-Carlo/) explores how and why it works.
I'm working on a series of posts about Monte Carlo methods!
The first (thenumb.at/Probability/) is a review/overview of continuous probability, including random variables, distributions, expectation, variance, probability bounds, and the Dirac delta.

My open source library for projection mapping is officially released today, free for all to use. Built on the @ProcessingOrg creative coding framework, it’s based on years of SPACEFILLER projection mapping installations.

+ Added Next/Previous links
+ Included interactive Shadertoy for motormath.xyz
+ Fixed motors rotating incorrectly, which lead to:
+ Observers now align to being an inverted motor!
All code is CC0, free, and also accessible on your mobile!

Here comes another patch 💌 it brings a few QoL things:
* Option to remove merlons and railings - no more need to stack two blocks to get rid of 'em 😄
* Last color/style edit is remembered, and applied to the next shape, wall, window, etc you create.
* a few misc fixes! 🧵

After fifteen years of working on products for our clients, we’re releasing one of our very own!
Rowboat is our tool for quickly making sense of tabular data (think Excel and CSV files). It runs entirely in the browser, just rowboat.xyz and drop a file on the page.

At @Apple we’ve been working on some cool tooling for ML. Check out the Mycelium graph viewer and also @donghaoren’s tensor visualizer widget at github.com/apple/tensor-visu…
Excited to share: my team@Apple @_jgoertler open-sources Mycelium - performant graph viewer in Talaria (CHI best paper nominee)! Mycelium quickly renders thousands of nodes with smooth interaction. Highly customizable for your need. Try our demo & repo: apple.github.io/ml-mycelium/

ALT Performance: Based on SVG but can handle models with thousands of nodes through hierarchical clustering. Model Support: Comes with ONNX support out of the box. By writing a loader you can use Mycelium with any graph or model format. Embeddable: The graph viewer—although written in Svelte—is framework agnostic and can be embedded into any application by mounting it directly to the DOM. Customizable: Mycelium leverages SVG together with a tiny UI framework to allow rich contents in nodes and tooltips.

Signed distance functions (SDFs) are fundamental tools in graphics, vision, and physics simulation.
But how do you get a high-quality SDF from messy, real-world input? At #SIGGRAPH2024, we introduced a simple method for turning "broken" geometry into a well-behaved SDF. <🧵>
