Rise to the challenge ☕️
There’s a lot behind a cup of coffee. For women coffee growers in the Dominican Republic, coffee means a business, a livelihood, jobs for their communities, and a reason to keep forests standing.

Rest in eternal peace, Dr. Stephen Asiimwe.

He spent his days trying to understand disease, prevent death, and improve public health.
Someone who had just spoken about how numb it feels when preventable road deaths hit close to home. He was riding with friends toward a 24th wedding anniversary trip with his wife.
Then a truck knocks him off his motorcycle and that entire life stops in Tanga.
The mystery isn’t just that death comes. It’s the timing, the irony, the unfinished conversations, the plans that looked solid on Monday and vanished by Tuesday.
RIP Doctor Asiimwe

While I stand with #WANTAM, there is valuable insight to be gained from Ruto.
The level of confidence he demonstrates on projects of this magnitude sets a strong precedent to the Fundis wako site.
Met Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe at State House Nairobi.
Mr Motsepe and his team were on an assessment visit of our preparations for the AFCON tournament that Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania in June-July 2027.
CAF commended Kenya for the substantial work in the brand new Talanta Sports City Stadium and the ongoing upgrades of Kasarani Stadium. Mr Motsepe pointed out that CAF is confident that the three East African countries would host a very successful tournament.
On our part, we assured CAF that we are committed to hosting a successful event. Everything is therefore being done to make sure that all the necessary infrastructure is ready on time and at the required standard.
We are committed to showcasing a classic football bonanza for Africa and the world. Kenyans will display their love, passion and talent for the game during the tournament.

In Solidarity with Borderless Africa!
Kenya cannot be home to Xenophobia. We refuse to hate fellow Africans.
As Africans, we must stand together socially, economically and politically.
African leaders should not plant seeds of division and discord among us.
Kenya refuses to be another South Africa. We stand united in support of one Africa.

America spent ten years turning a Tanzanian teenager into the founder of an American company.
Then it exported him.
I wrote about it for the @nytimes today. Thread 🧵
