During my audience with King Philippe of the Belgians, I thanked His Majesty, the government, and all the Belgian people for their support of Ukraine. We are now living under constant Russian missile and drone attacks on our cities and communities. And our top priority is strengthening air defense. We count on Belgium’s support in this area, particularly with the delivery of F-16 fighter jets and ammunition for them, which help us defend against Russian jet-powered “shaheds.” And, of course, it is equally important that frozen Russian assets remain immobilized. As long as the war continues, Russia must not receive anything it could invest in further killings and destabilization in Europe. Thank you! @MonarchieBe

I am grateful to all of you who are trying to keep Europe and the United States together. There are so many people with good hearts in America who sincerely want evil to lose and Ukraine to stand strong. These are the very hearts that helped Europe defend its freedom, and that fought on D-Day, won the Cold War, and want what is best for Europe. Hearts that want to be allies, not to divide or humiliate Europe. I believe most Americans still feel this way. And at the end of the day, the American people will have their say. Putin will listen to America if America really turns up the heat on him and makes one thing clear – either he chooses peace, or he gets no more money for his war. From an address to the participants of the European Council meeting. (2/5)

With ZERO regard for facts or the truth, the Jack Smith Senate Judiciary hearing was a fucking disaster for Republicans. What was supposed to be a pep rally for the pedophile president before the midterms instead showed the American people a gaslighting and grandstanding parade of poltroons and sycophants performing like circus monkeys for the TRAITOR in the Oval Office. Jack Smith once again came across as exactly what he is — a man of the highest integrity, a serious prosecutor committed to the Constitution and the rule of law, and above all… AN AMERICAN PATRIOT.

Donald Trump is illegally stealing $810 million from programs that support education, small business, and clean air. All while tripling his own net worth and spending billions more on ballrooms, reflecting pools, and an illegal war nobody asked for. He is the most corrupt, out of touch President in our nation’s history. Senate Democrats will pursue every avenue to ensure that these funds are distributed as the law demands.

It’s hard to imagine many people having a bigger impact than Dolly Parton. Born in a one-room cabin, she earned 11 Grammys and an Emmy, built a business empire, helped millions of kids learn to read, and — as if that wasn’t enough — helped accelerate the research that led to the Moderna COVID vaccine. What a life. Michelle and I are thinking of Dolly’s family and her many, many fans.
Breaking News: Dolly Parton, the country singer, songwriter, entertainer and entrepreneur known for her outsize persona and prodigious vision and talent that placed her in a class by herself, has died at 80. nyti.ms/45Prr77

Paul McCartney pays tribute to Dolly Parton: "The magnificent star Dolly Parton has died and it is so sad. She was such a wonderful woman. I first met her in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry where she had been playing with the country star Porter Wagoner and was about to start her solo career. She was so bubbly and full of life it is difficult to take in the news that she has passed. Her songwriting, her singing and her philanthropy were unrivaled in the world of country music and it is hard to imagine living in a world without Dolly. She was a very clever business woman who understood the value of her music and, most importantly, the effect that she had on the people of the world. There was no greater honour for me than to have her sing my song Let It Be and, even though I only made a small contribution to it, I am so honoured that she did it. I am so proud to have known her and admire her unique talents." "Thanks Dolly for the beautiful music you gave me and the whole world. We will always love you, god bless and rest in peace. You were the best." variety.com/2026/music/news/…

Does anyone remember this amazing story? On July 2, 1982, a truck driver from California flew 16,000 feet into the sky in a lawn chair. Larry Walters, 33, from San Pedro, had dreamed of flying his whole life. He bought 42 eight-foot helium weather balloons, tied them to a regular Sears lawn chair, strapped on a parachute, packed a BB gun to pop balloons to descend, a CB radio, sandwiches, and a six-pack of beer. He expected to float a few hundred feet above his backyard. He cut the rope and shot up like a rocket — to 16,000 feet. He drifted directly into the main approach path for LAX. Two airline pilots radioed the tower: they had just passed a man in a lawn chair holding a gun at 16,000 feet. For 45 minutes, he floated over Los Angeles, freezing cold, too scared to shoot balloons because he might fall. Finally, he started popping balloons one by one and slowly descended. He landed tangled in power lines in Long Beach, California, causing a blackout. When police arrested him, they asked why he did it. He said, "A man can't just sit around." The FAA fined him $4,000. He became a national folk hero — Lawnchair Larry — and inspired the movie Up.
